Yes—if YouTube says your account is restricted from live streaming, you cannot switch to another channel to keep streaming. YouTube says that using another channel while the account restriction is active is circumvention and may result in account termination. Check the wording and status in your notice and YouTube Studio; don’t assume that every restriction has the same cause or duration.
What YouTube’s rule means
YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions policy says that if an account has been restricted from live streaming, the user is prohibited from using another channel to live stream on YouTube for as long as the restriction remains active on the account. In other words, another channel on the same account is not a permitted workaround.

YouTube classifies violating this restriction as circumvention under its Terms of Service and says it may result in termination of the account. Treat the restriction as applying across your channels for live streaming unless YouTube’s notice or account status indicates otherwise.

Why the notice matters
YouTube lists several possible reasons a channel’s live-streaming ability may be turned off, including a Community Guidelines strike, a stream taken down for violating policy, copyright-related issues, or other violations. A channel-related event may be the trigger, but the cross-channel prohibition is expressly stated for an account restricted from live streaming. Read the actual notice rather than inferring the scope or end date from the original incident.

YouTube’s account-standing guidance also explains that a strike on an active or archived live stream can disable live-stream access. The restriction notice and the live-streaming status shown in YouTube Studio are the practical places to confirm what applies to your account.
What to do if you’re restricted
- Read the restriction email or notification. Note the stated reason, status, and any appeal instructions. YouTube says notifications include appeal instructions when applicable.
- Check YouTube Studio. Review the channel’s live-streaming access and any relevant strikes or enforcement notices. Don’t try to test the restriction by starting a stream from another channel.
- Appeal through the route in the notice or Studio if you believe YouTube made an error. Follow the instructions for that decision; an appeal is not a guarantee of reinstatement or a particular resolution time.
- Wait until the account restriction is no longer active before streaming again. YouTube’s cross-channel rule lasts as long as the restriction remains active. Do not treat the separate 90-day eligibility condition as a universal restriction period.
How verification and the 90-day condition fit in
YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance says a channel must be verified and have no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days to live stream. These are eligibility requirements for starting a stream; they do not grant permission to use another channel while an account restriction is active. The 90-day lookback is not proof that every account restriction lasts 90 days.

Does streaming software or a cloud service change the restriction?
No. Streaming equipment and services do not change YouTube’s enforcement status. A termination is more serious than a temporary loss of live-stream access. YouTube’s termination guidance describes a broader prohibition on using, possessing, or creating channels after termination. Follow the appeal and account instructions YouTube provides rather than creating or using another channel to continue.
