No. Samsung Galaxy Watch models do not have a removable physical SIM card slot. If you want cellular service, choose an LTE version: it uses an embedded eSIM that is activated digitally. Bluetooth-only versions do not support eSIM, and LTE service still depends on local carrier and country support.
How Galaxy Watch cellular service works
An eSIM is built into the supported LTE watch; there is no tray to open and no physical SIM to insert. Samsung describes eSIM as a replacement for an ordinary physical SIM in supported devices. The exact LTE models offered vary by generation and market. Samsung’s eSIM guidance and its Galaxy Watch7 specification for China describe the built-in eSIM approach.

LTE and Bluetooth versions are different
For a given Galaxy Watch generation, LTE and Bluetooth-only are distinct connectivity variants. Samsung says only LTE models support eSIM; a Bluetooth-only model cannot add cellular service later by inserting a SIM. Check that the specific listing names the LTE variant rather than relying on the product family name alone. Samsung Germany’s LTE activation guidance explains the distinction.
- LTE: Has an embedded eSIM and may connect to cellular service when a compatible plan is activated.
- Bluetooth-only: Has no eSIM cellular capability and relies on a paired phone or available Wi-Fi for connected functions.
Check the exact watch and carrier before buying
LTE hardware does not guarantee that your carrier will activate the watch. Availability depends on country, carrier, model, and the carrier’s supported smartwatch service. Samsung advises checking local compatibility and carrier support; plan terms and number-sharing arrangements should be confirmed directly with the carrier rather than assumed.

- Next-Generation 3nm Processor: Exynos W1000 chipset delivers significantly faster performance and smoother app navigation.
Samsung Germany says an EID or IMEI shown under Settings → About watch → Status information is an indicator of an LTE-capable model. Treat that as a useful check, not a substitute for confirming the model number against your local Samsung listing and carrier eligibility.
What you can do without your phone nearby
Samsung lists calls and messages among the functions available on LTE watches away from a phone, and its US guidance also mentions streaming, navigation, and other functions. The experience depends on an activated service and the relevant market. Phone-free use should not be confused with phone-free activation: Samsung Canada cautions that its eSIM-enabled watches cannot be activated as standalone devices there. Samsung’s US LTE overview describes away-from-phone functions, while the Canadian Galaxy Watch7 LTE page notes the standalone-activation limitation.

Before you choose an LTE model
- Identify the exact Galaxy Watch generation and model number you are considering.
- Confirm the listing is for LTE, not Bluetooth-only.
- Ask your local carrier whether that watch model can be activated on its smartwatch eSIM service in your country.
- Confirm activation requirements, plan cost, and whether the watch shares a phone number or uses another arrangement; those details are carrier-specific.
Samsung’s India Galaxy Watch7 LTE page describes LTE calling and messaging and directs customers to carrier activation, reinforcing that the watch’s hardware and the carrier plan are separate parts of the setup: Galaxy Watch7 LTE product information for India.
