Short answer: GTA VI is listed for both PS5 and PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Store labels the game “PS5 Pro Enhanced.” But that label does not specify a frame rate, resolution, graphics mode, or measurable advantage over the standard PS5. If you would upgrade only for a promised performance boost in GTA VI, wait for technical details and independent testing.
What PlayStation has confirmed
- PlayStation lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PS5 and PS5 Pro, with a current release date of November 19, 2026, on its official game page.
- The PlayStation Store listing marks the game “PS5 Pro Enhanced.” The listing reviewed does not explain what that means specifically for GTA VI.
- Rockstar says its extended look at the game was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. It does not identify the console as a base PS5 or PS5 Pro, or provide frame-rate or graphics-mode details in that announcement: Rockstar Newswire.
These sources establish platform support and the Store designation, not a quantified comparison between the consoles. Release dates and product listings can change, so check PlayStation’s current game page for updates.

What “PS5 Pro Enhanced” does—and does not—tell you
The Store label is an official signal that the game carries a PS5 Pro enhancement designation. The material available does not define the specific enhancement. It might relate to visual or performance characteristics, but neither should be presented as confirmed for GTA VI without further details.
No official frame-rate target, resolution, graphics mode, or direct PS5-versus-PS5-Pro performance comparison is specified in the cited PlayStation pages. In particular, “PS5 Pro Enhanced” is not proof of a 60 fps mode or any other particular frame rate.

Should you upgrade before GTA VI?
If GTA VI is your only reason
Wait for Rockstar or PlayStation to publish technical specifications, and for independent testing to assess the released game. The current designation alone cannot tell you whether the Pro’s GTA VI performance will justify the cost for your needs.
If you already want a PS5 Pro for other reasons
GTA VI’s official PS5 Pro Enhanced designation is relevant to that decision, but treat the exact game-specific benefit as unspecified until it is explained. Weigh the console on its broader merits rather than assuming a particular GTA VI frame rate or resolution.

What about Sony’s QSSR upscaling?
A TechRadar report described Sony’s newer QSSR upscaling technology as coming to other named games, but said it was unclear whether Rockstar planned to use it in GTA VI. The report quotes Sony saying, “While PSSR remains the gold standard on PS5 Pro, QSSR provides some notable improvements to both image detail and image stability on PS5.” That statement concerns QSSR generally; it does not establish GTA VI support. See TechRadar’s report for that discussion.
