For Oura Ring Gen3 and newer, you need an Oura Membership to use the full app experience. Without it, you keep three daily scores—Readiness, Activity and Sleep—and a handful of basic app functions, but lose most detailed insights and guidance. Gen2 does not require a membership.
What does Oura Membership cost?
Oura lists US pricing at $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year for the same membership feature set. A new member gets one included month with a ring purchase; the period starts when the ring is paired, and the selected monthly or annual plan is billed afterward unless canceled. Taxes may apply.

What does membership include?
Membership unlocks Oura’s detailed analysis and personalized app features. The current feature list spans sleep, heart, activity, temperature, stress, health insights and reports. The exact features available can depend on ring generation, platform, region and feature-specific requirements.
- Sleep and heart: Detailed sleep analysis and 24/7 heart-rate tracking during daytime, nighttime and activity, alongside advanced temperature monitoring and blood oxygen sensing.
- Stress and activity: Daytime Stress, dynamic activity goals and Automatic Activity Detection.
- Heart Health and Metabolic Health: Cardiovascular Age and Cardio Capacity (VO2 Max), plus Glucose Tracking and Meals.
- Women’s Health and resilience: Cycle Insights, Pregnancy Insights and Resilience.
- Reports and integrations: Weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly and anniversary reports, third-party health and wellness app integrations such as Strava, and Oura Labs features.
Oura Labs features are experimental: Oura says they may change, become unavailable or be removed during testing. Eligibility and availability may also vary for other features, so a membership does not guarantee that every listed feature will appear for every user.

What can you use without membership?
On Gen3 and newer, Oura says the app still provides the Readiness, Activity and Sleep scores, ring battery, basic profile information, app settings and Explore content. Most detailed insights and personalized guidance require an active membership. The API is also unavailable without membership.

Does Oura work without a subscription on Gen2?
Oura Membership applies to Gen3 and newer rings; Gen2 users are not charged a membership fee. Oura says it will continue routine software and firmware updates for Gen2 for the foreseeable future, but hardware differences limit compatibility with newer features. If you upgrade from Gen2 to a newer ring, plan for the membership requirement.
What happens if you cancel?
Canceling membership does not delete your Oura account or erase saved data. Oura says saved data remains under its privacy policy unless you delete the account. If you rejoin, access to that data is restored; you can also export data as a CSV through the Membership Hub.

Canceling and deleting are separate actions: cancel membership to stop the subscription, and delete the account only if you intend to remove it. If you need a copy of your records, export them through the Membership Hub.

No. The ring is the physical sensor; membership provides the fuller app experience and analysis. For context, Oura Ring 4 sensors track blood oxygen during sleep, heart rate and heart-rate variability, respiration rate during sleep, temperature trends, and movement and activity. Oura lists typical Ring 4 battery life as 5–8 days, with actual duration varying by size, settings, use, battery age and other factors.

An Oura ring set includes the ring, charging dock and USB cable; the power adapter is not included. Oura recommends using its sizing kit because its sizing differs slightly from standard ring sizes. Hardware details and included items are described on Oura’s Ring 4 product page and General FAQs.
