How armor, outfits, and stats work
PlayStation describes a builds system that lets players combine the special features of armor and outfits with benefits from charms. In practical terms, choose armor for its listed perks, then add charms that complement how you want to play. The guide recommends taking chosen armor and many charms to their top upgrade level because upgrades increase their special effects.

The guide does not establish that every cosmetic clothing or appearance choice has gameplay effects, nor does it explain whether changing an equipped set’s appearance independently preserves its stats. These examples come from PlayStation’s October 15, 2025 builds guide. They illustrate different roles rather than rank every set or identify one universally best choice.

Build around the encounters you expect
- For melee: Armour of the Undying supports staggers, focus attacks, and more forgiving parry and dodge timing.
- For stealth: Crimson Kimono’s reduced detection and kunai chain assassinations suit an approach built around avoiding open combat.
- For bows: Dragonfly Armour rewards fully drawn shots when its timing condition is met, then supports concentration and faster arrow reloads.
- For duels: Bounty Master Armour trades away regular parries for stronger perfect-parry opportunities and a counterattack option.
- For quickfire weapons: Nine Tail Armour improves their damage and status duration and links ammunition recovery to assassinations.
These perks can be paired with charm bonuses. The guide says three saved builds are available at the start, with up to five eventually savable; it does not specify when the additional slots unlock. Separate saved setups can therefore be useful for keeping distinct approaches organized as they become available.
Do armor upgrades improve perks?
Yes. PlayStation’s guide says armor sets and many charms can be upgraded several levels, increasing their special effects. Its advice is to upgrade the items chosen for a build to their top level. The guide does not give a universal numeric increase, so the amount depends on the specific item and upgrade level.

What the available patch notes establish
Sucker Punch’s 1.010 patch notes, dated October 17, 2025, mention a bug involving the armor-upgrade scene, but do not document changes to armor perks. That note is not evidence that gear effects have remained unchanged in every later update; consult current in-game perk descriptions for the version you are playing.
