In the Modern Warfare II (MWII) era, mastery camos were usable in MWII and Warzone 2.0, including DMZ, but they were tied to the MWII weapon they unlocked for. MWII completionist camos later carried into Modern Warfare III (MWIII), but could not be equipped on MWIII weapons. For the announced Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 carry-forward plan, Activision said on September 24, 2026, that legacy weapon camos would not be available.
What “transfer” means for these camos
There are two separate questions: whether an unlock is carried into another game, and whether you can equip it on a weapon in that game. A camo may carry forward while remaining usable only on the weapon family for which it was earned. The answer also changes by Warzone iteration: Warzone 2.0 was linked to MWII, while the later carry-forward rules and current Warzone plans are different.

MWII, Warzone 2.0, and DMZ
At Warzone 2.0’s November 2022 launch, Activision described its weapons, progression, and inventory as tied to MWII. DMZ was introduced as part of Warzone 2.0, so this MWII-era relationship included DMZ. In that ecosystem, MWII mastery camos were usable across MWII and Warzone 2.0 on their corresponding MWII weapons. Activision’s launch overview also distinguishes Warzone Caldera, which did not receive MWII/Warzone 2.0 content.

Official MWII-era event materials also described camo objectives and rewards available through activities in DMZ and Warzone modes. That describes the historical game ecosystem; it does not establish whether DMZ is currently playable. Activision’s Season 05 Reloaded overview gives examples of that cross-mode event context.

What carried from MWII into MWIII
MWII’s Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion completionist camos carried forward into MWIII, but the carry-forward did not make them universal. They could be equipped only on the MWII weapon for which each camo was unlocked, not on MWIII weapons. Activision’s Carry Forward FAQ states: “Modern Warfare II Completionist Camos cannot be placed onto MWIII weapons, or vice versa.”

Do not apply MWIII’s older carry-forward rule to current Warzone. In a correction dated September 24, 2026, Activision said legacy weapon camos would not be available under the announced Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 carry-forward arrangement. Its statement says legacy weapons, operators, skins, and blueprints remain available under that plan; it does not include legacy camos among those items.
