What a phone cooler can—and cannot—tell you
An external cooler is a targeted option for sustained gaming heat, not a universal need. Product temperature claims should be read as manufacturer-reported results for a named phone and test comparison; they do not by themselves establish an internal-temperature reduction, higher frame rates, prevention of throttling, or longer battery life.

ROG Phone 8 Series: AeroActive Cooler X
ASUS describes the AeroActive Cooler X as an accessory for the ROG Phone 8 Series. It combines thermoelectric cooling and a fan with side USB-C charging and two physical buttons. ASUS reports up to 36°C lower back-cover surface temperature compared with an ROG Phone 8 without the cooler, based on ASUS lab testing; actual performance may vary. This is a product-specific surface-temperature claim, not independent evidence of a frame-rate or internal-temperature gain.

ROG Phone 7: AeroActive Cooler 7
ASUS calls the AeroActive Cooler 7 the companion for ROG Phone 7. It adds active cooling, four physical buttons, and a kickstand. ASUS reports up to 25°C lower back-cover temperature for the ROG Phone 7 and says actual performance may vary. This is a separate manufacturer claim; it should not be combined with the AeroActive Cooler X figure as if both came from the same test.

ROG Phone models: AeroActive Cooler 6
The AeroActive Cooler 6 offers active cooling and four physical buttons for the ROG Phone models listed on its product page. ASUS warns that excessive cooling could create condensation and says the accessory has a humidity sensor and protection mechanism to prevent it. That caveat is specific to ASUS’s description of this model, not a general claim about every phone cooler.

Triggers provide physical inputs for games and control layouts that suit them. They may be useful if you prefer tactile buttons, but their value depends on the game, supported controls, button mapping, and your own playing style. A trigger set is not proof that every game will support the controls you want, and generic clip-on accessories should not be assumed to fit every phone.

How to choose
- Identify the problem. Consider a cooler for persistent heat during demanding sessions; consider triggers for physical input. If neither is an issue, you may not need an accessory.
- Confirm the exact phone model. The cited AeroActive Cooler X, 7, and 6 pages describe compatibility with particular ROG Phone generations or listed models, not universal compatibility.
- Check how it fits into play. Verify the game’s controls and mapping options for triggers, and check whether a cooler leaves the charging connection and your preferred grip usable.
- Read temperature figures narrowly. Treat manufacturer lab numbers as surface-temperature comparisons under the stated product conditions, not as a promise of better performance in every game or environment.
