It depends on what you mean by “console cheats.” Larian says achievements are automatically disabled while mods are in use. On PC, the third-party Baldur’s Gate 3 Script Extender documents an EnableAchievements setting for modded games. Its debug console is a separate feature, and the documentation does not say that simply opening that window disables achievements.
What counts as a “console cheat” in BG3?
The phrase can refer to different things: a mod enabled through Baldur’s Gate 3’s in-game Mod Manager, the PC Script Extender, or the Script Extender’s diagnostic console window. They do not have one documented, universal effect on achievements.

What happens when you use mods?
Larian’s Community Update #29: Playing With Mods states: “Achievements are automatically disabled when you’re using mods.” This applies to the use of mods, not necessarily to every cheat-like action or diagnostic window.
Patch 7 introduced the in-game Mod Manager and Toolkit. You can enable or disable mods in the manager, but Larian warns that disabling some mods may affect existing saves. What the PC Script Extender changes
The third-party BG3 Script Extender documentation lists EnableAchievements as a setting for re-enabling achievements in modded games. Treat this as a third-party feature, not a guarantee from Larian that achievements will work in every modded campaign or that earlier progress will be restored.
The Script Extender’s own FAQ says the extender enables achievements automatically and that EnableAchievements defaults to true. It also notes that extender versions target particular game builds. A game update can therefore make a previously compatible version stop working; check the project’s current compatibility information before relying on it.

Does opening the debug console disable achievements?
The Script Extender FAQ says Ctrl+F12 opens its console window. The CreateConsole setting can make that window persistent. The documentation describes it as a window for logging extender internals and discusses it separately from the achievement setting.

What about PlayStation and Xbox?
The Script Extender configuration instructions concern the PC tool; they are not a workaround for PlayStation or Xbox. Larian’s mod guidance covers supported mods on console, and its baseline rule remains that achievements are automatically disabled while mods are in use. Do not assume a PC-only setting applies to a console version.
