BattleBots builders are using computer simulations to compare weapon designs and think through offensive and defensive choices before competition, according to BattleBots senior engineer Rob Bahr. But the available evidence does not show that those simulations are necessarily AI-powered—or that they predict winners. A new AI-cloud partnership could expand what teams can explore, but its effect on fights remains unproven.
What BattleBots builders simulate before a fight
Bahr described builders comparing possible weapon shapes on their computers: bars, circles, and single-tooth designs. They use those scenarios to consider potential offense and defense before committing to a design or facing an opponent. His comments describe reported team practice, not the results of a controlled study. SiliconANGLE reported Bahr’s remarks on October 6, 2026.

Teams have also begun using simulations to consider different plastics and rubbers as 3D printing and materials evolve, Bahr said. The available account does not identify particular software, teams, material models, or validation methods, so it does not establish how accurately such simulations predict real-world performance.

What AI adds—and what has not been demonstrated
CoreWeave announced on June 23, 2026, that it was BattleBots’ official AI cloud partner and that teams would have access to its AI Cloud platform while developing and training robots for the 2027 Pro League season. That is evidence of a partnership and platform access, not proof that teams are already using AI to model complete fights or that the technology produces better outcomes.

Bahr predicted AI could play a key role in computing and simulation, and possibly autonomy—the ability of a robot to act with less direct control. That is a forecast, not a report of a demonstrated system or result. The sources do not establish whether any current team simulation uses AI, how a system might be trained, or how closely a computer model represents damage in the arena.
There is also no published statistic in the cited sources showing how many teams use AI simulation, how accurately simulations predict fights, or whether simulation increases win rates. Treat claims that AI already helps teams “win fights” as unverified.

How teams use design tools in practice
Engineering analysis can help teams explore trade-offs before building hardware, even when it does not simulate a whole fight. SOLIDWORKS case studies document HyperShock using CAD, simulation, and visualization, and Witch Doctor using topology studies to explore weight, strength, and stiffness. Those are examples of design work, not evidence that a model can forecast a match.

Those are the team’s claims as presented by SOLIDWORKS, not independent comparisons of performance.

- More Builds From One Set: Create eight compact models, then rebuild all eight into one large robot or one truck. This 769-piece 8 in 2 robot building set delivers three distinct build paths, offering more variety and repeat value than a single-form model.
- Eight Packs Create Three Build Paths: Each individually packed component set forms one compact mechanical build. Reuse those same components to assemble either the larger robot or truck, giving this transforming vehicle building set a clear build, rebuild, and display cycle.
- Rewarding Build for Ages 14+: Easy-to-follow illustrated instructions divide the 769-piece project into manageable stages. This robot model kit and mech model kit offer focused assembly, bright color, and a satisfying finished result for adults and teens ages 14+.
- Important—One Large Form at a Time: The eight mini builds can stand together, but the robot and truck reuse those same pieces and cannot be built simultaneously. This robot truck building set changes form through disassembly and rebuilding; it does not mechanically convert.
- Made to Display and Give: Bold red, blue, silver, and gold mechanical details give the finished robot or truck strong desk and shelf presence. A good gift for birthdays, Christmas, or Easter for adults and teens 14+ who enjoy building blocks for adults, transforming toys, and creative model projects.
BattleBots’ own builder guidance emphasizes engineering, electronics, CAD, physics, and design, alongside learning through research, community, mistakes, and repeated refinement. Simulation fits into that larger process: it can help frame design questions, but it does not replace making and testing a robot. BattleBots’ builder guide explains its approach.
