If your DJI RC or DJI RC 2 charges over USB-C but no files appear, power on the controller, connect it to the computer with a USB cable, then look for the controller’s storage disk. Check both the removable card and internal-storage folders. If you need footage saved to the microSD card, DJI also recommends removing the card and using a reader—a faster option than transferring through the controller.
Transfer files from a DJI RC to a computer
- Power on the remote controller.
- Connect the controller’s USB-C port to the computer with a USB cable.
- On the computer, look for and open the controller’s SD card disk.
- Open the folder for the location where the footage was saved.
DJI lists the original DJI RC, DJI RC 2, DJI RC Pro, and DJI RC Pro 2 for this export procedure in its photo and video export instructions.

Check the right storage location
- Removable microSD card:
SD_Card/DCIM/DJI Album - Controller internal storage:
Internal Storage/DCIM/DJI Album
The card-reader option below can access card-stored footage, not files saved only in internal storage. For internal-storage files, use the direct controller-to-computer connection.

A charging indicator shows that power is reaching the controller; it does not confirm that the computer has mounted its storage. DJI describes the USB-C port as serving both charging and computer connection, but its export instructions do not identify one universal cause for a charge-only connection. Work through these checks without assuming the cable, a setting, or a hardware fault is necessarily to blame.

- 4hr Battery - Fly longer to see and capture more with the DJI RC's 4hr max battery life.
- Precision Control Sticks - The DJI RC is equipped with new dual-spring control sticks, giving users a more delicate and precise feel for smoother flying.
- O3+ Transmission - When using O3+ compatible drones, enjoy low-latency live feeds at resolutions up to 1080p/60fps. Note: DJI RC will automatically switch to the transmission technology of compatible camera drones.
- Confirm the connection sequence: power on the controller before connecting it to the computer, as DJI’s export procedure specifies.
- Check for the storage disk: look in the computer’s file manager for a mounted disk, then open the appropriate card or internal-storage path.
- Try another cable or computer port: a known data-capable USB-C cable and another available port are reasonable troubleshooting steps. DJI calls for a USB cable but does not say a cable replacement will fix every charge-only symptom.
- For card footage, bypass the controller: remove the microSD card and read it with a card reader connected to the computer. DJI says this method is faster than connecting the controller directly.
Use a card reader for microSD footage
If the files are on the removable card, power down as appropriate for safe card handling, remove the microSD card, and insert it into a reader that connects to your computer. Open DCIM/DJI Album on the card. Match the reader’s connector to the computer’s available port; DJI does not specify a reader model.
This route does not retrieve footage stored only in the controller’s internal storage. DJI describes card-reader transfer as faster than direct connection, but does not publish a measured speed comparison.

Mac: check DJI’s Android File Transfer guidance
DJI’s export article says that the remote controller runs Android and directs Mac users whose computer does not recognize the controller to install Android File Transfer on the Mac. This is a computer utility, not an app to install on the DJI RC itself.

These instructions concern DJI RC-series controllers that DJI lists for computer export. They are not the same workflow as RC-N-series controllers, which connect to a phone and have different port behavior. Do not apply phone-connection prompts or steps to the RC computer-export procedure.
