MediaTek’s published specifications for the Dimensity 7300 and Dimensity 7300X describe the same CPU layout and the same Mali-G615 graphics family. The practical difference is design intent: MediaTek positions the 7300X for flip-style foldables with two displays. The sources available do not establish “Dimensity 7300 Ultra” as a separate MediaTek chip, and no controlled benchmark compares the two chips directly, so no performance winner can be named.
Is “Dimensity 7300 Ultra” a real chip name?
Not as an official MediaTek product. The sources reviewed for this comparison do not establish a chip called “Dimensity 7300 Ultra” that sits apart from the Dimensity 7300.

The label appears in two places, and they disagree:
- Motorola Support India lists the processor of the Edge 50 Neo as “MediaTek Dimensity 7300.”
- PassMark’s Android device page for the same phone labels its CPU “Mediatek Dimensity 7300-Ultra (MT6878).”
The most likely reading is that “Ultra” is a benchmark database’s naming choice for one phone’s processor, not a model tier MediaTek markets. Treat it as a label, not a verified product. If you see “7300 Ultra” in a listing, check the manufacturer’s own specification page for the exact model and region before assuming it refers to a different silicon version.

Official specifications side by side
MediaTek announced the Dimensity 7300 and 7300X together on May 30, 2024, as related 4nm chips. The table below separates what MediaTek’s announcement states from what its 7300X product page adds. Where a value appears only for the 7300X, the 7300 column reads “not stated” because the sources reviewed do not give it for the 7300.
| Specification | Dimensity 7300 | Dimensity 7300X |
|---|---|---|
| Announcement | Announced with the 7300X on May 30, 2024 (MediaTek announcement) | Announced alongside the 7300 (MediaTek announcement) |
| Process | 4nm (MediaTek announcement) | 4nm-class (MediaTek product page) |
| CPU | 4 × Arm Cortex-A78 up to 2.5GHz, 4 × Arm Cortex-A55 (MediaTek announcement) | Same stated arrangement; described as an octa-core CPU (MediaTek announcement and product page) |
| GPU | Arm Mali-G615 family; the announcement does not state the MC configuration | Arm Mali-G615 MC2 (MediaTek product page) |
| Memory | Not stated in the sources reviewed | LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 support (MediaTek product page) |
| Storage | Not stated in the sources reviewed | UFS 3.1 support (MediaTek product page) |
| Wireless | Not stated in the sources reviewed | Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 (MediaTek product page) |
| Maximum display modes | Not stated in the sources reviewed | WFHD+ at 120Hz or Full HD+ at 144Hz (MediaTek product page) |
| Positioning | General smartphone chip | Flip-style foldables with dual-display support (MediaTek announcement) |
These are system-on-chip capability figures. A phone maker decides which memory, storage, display and wireless options a handset actually uses, so a figure in the table is a ceiling for the chip, not a promise for every device built on it.
What the 7300X adds: foldable and dual-display design
The clearest difference between the two chips is the form factor MediaTek says it was built for. In its May 30, 2024 announcement, MediaTek’s Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager of its Wireless Communications Business, said: “Furthermore, the Dimensity 7300X enables OEMs to develop innovative new form factors thanks to its dual display support.”
That quotation describes design intent from the vendor. It is not an independent evaluation of how well dual-display phones perform. The 7300X’s display-mode figures show what the chip can drive; whether a given flip phone uses its second screen, and how, is up to the manufacturer.
Example phones: what the listed chip does and does not tell you
Each chip is paired with a specific handset in the sources reviewed. These phones illustrate the design; they are not a measure of the chip.
| Phone | Chip as listed by Motorola | Display details listed | Battery | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Motorola Edge 50 Neo | Dimensity 7300 | 6.4-inch pOLED; no second display listed | 4310mAh (India specification page) | Motorola Support India |
| Motorola Razr 50 | Dimensity 7300X | 6.9-inch internal; 3.63-inch external | Not stated in the sources reviewed | Motorola Support US (page content is in Italian despite the US domain) |
Phone-level traits such as display size, battery and camera setup come from the handset, not the chip. Regional versions of the same model can also differ in memory, storage or other configuration, so check the page for the exact market you plan to buy in.

No controlled, directly comparable benchmark of the Dimensity 7300 against the Dimensity 7300X turned up in the sources reviewed. The only measured figures available are device-level aggregates from PassMark’s Android Benchmark pages.

PassMark states that its device results draw on thousands of PerformanceTest Mobile benchmark results and update daily. Its page for the Edge 50 Neo shows the following values:
| Measure | Value shown |
|---|---|
| Average CPU Mark | 6,707 |
| Average Mem Mark | 20,040 |
| Average Disk Mark | 56,119 |
| Average 2D Mark | 27,131 |
| Average 3D Mark | 35,571 |
| Samples behind the displayed rating | 24 |
| First benchmark date | February 6, 2025 |
These numbers describe one phone as submitted by users, not the Dimensity 7300 as a chip. Memory, cooling, firmware and thermal behaviour all shape a phone’s score, and the page’s comparison section was dated June 29, 2026, so the values can change. The page contains no Dimensity 7300X phone, so it cannot rank the two chips.
What a valid head-to-head would require
- The same handset model, or at least devices with matching memory, storage and firmware, tested under the same conditions.
- Several runs per device, with the spread reported rather than a single score.
- A named benchmark and a stated methodology, so the result can be repeated.
- Results labelled by device or by chip, with the distinction made explicit.
Until a test meets those conditions, any claim that one chip is faster than the other goes beyond the evidence.
MediaTek’s efficiency and performance percentages
MediaTek publishes percentage claims for both chips, and they are easy to misread as a measured gap between them.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- May 30, 2024 announcement: 20% faster FPS and 20% improved energy efficiency compared with “competitor alternatives,” plus 13% to 30% greater power efficiency in common sub-6GHz 5G scenarios. The announcement does not name the competitors or describe a test method.
- 7300X product page: up to 20% greater FPS and up to 20% improved energy efficiency versus competitor alternatives for gaming, and 13% to 30% greater power efficiency for common 5G scenarios.
These are vendor claims about MediaTek silicon against unnamed rivals. They do not measure the 7300 against the 7300X, and they should be attributed to MediaTek whenever they are repeated.
How to choose between the two
The published CPU and GPU specifications match, so the phone you buy will mostly be defined by its other features. Use this order when you compare:
- Decide whether you need a second screen. If you want a flip-style phone with two displays, the 7300X is the chip MediaTek designed for that layout, and you should confirm that the specific handset uses it.
- Open the manufacturer’s specification page for the exact model and region, and read the chip name there rather than relying on a retailer listing or a benchmark label.
- Compare memory and storage configuration, display, battery, camera and software update commitments for each model, since these vary more between phones than the chip does.
- Check benchmark entries only for the exact model you are considering, and read them as device averages rather than chip rankings.
If you do not need a dual-display design, the choice between a 7300-based and a 7300X-based phone should rest on the handset, not the chip name.
