The Samsung Galaxy F17 5G and the vivo T5 Lite 44W 5G win on different things on paper. Samsung’s launch material leads with a Full HD+ Super AMOLED screen, a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, IP54 protection and a long software commitment: six Android upgrades and six years of security updates. vivo’s specification page leads with a larger battery (6,500mAh), faster charging (44W) and IP65 protection, and gives a 120Hz LCD. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. The price gap is also not settled: the only prices on record are Samsung’s launch prices from 11 September 2025 and a single vivo store price for one variant, captured at a different time.
Specifications side by side
The table below lists what each manufacturer states. Where a manufacturer’s source does not give a value, the cell says so rather than filling in an estimate.

Display: resolution and panel type against refresh rate
The two screens trade off in opposite directions. Samsung’s panel has a higher pixel count (Full HD+) and uses an AMOLED panel, which usually means deeper blacks and more saturated colour than an LCD. vivo’s panel has a lower pixel count (1600×720) but states a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, so scrolling and animations are likely to look smoother if the phone runs at that rate in the app you are using.

Neither manufacturer’s figures tell you how the screen looks in practice. The 1100-nit and 1200-nit numbers are peak or promoted brightness values measured under each company’s own conditions, so they cannot be compared directly. Samsung does not state a refresh rate in the material reviewed, which makes a full display comparison impossible on the Samsung side.

Processor
The Exynos 1330 and the Dimensity 6300 are both budget-tier chips. Each manufacturer names its chip and process node or core count, but no independent benchmark in the material reviewed compares them, so this article does not name a speed winner. If you run heavy games or multitasking, check results from independent reviewers who test both chips in the same conditions before deciding.
Cameras
Both phones list a 50MP main camera. Samsung’s launch announcement adds optical image stabilisation (OIS), which reduces blur from hand movement, and it describes an ultra-wide lens and a macro lens. vivo’s specification page lists a 0.08MP secondary camera, which is too small to be useful as a photo lens; it is likely a depth or auxiliary sensor, but the page does not say what it does. No controlled photo comparison was available, so the article does not claim either phone takes better pictures.

Battery and charging
vivo lists a 6,500mAh battery with 44W charging. Samsung lists 5,000mAh with 25W charging. On these numbers the vivo has the larger battery and the faster charger. Real endurance depends on screen settings, network signal, apps and temperature, and charge times depend on the charger and cable you use, so these specification figures show potential, not guaranteed results.

Durability
- Samsung Galaxy F17 5G: IP54 rating, which protects against limited dust and splashing water from any direction. It also uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the display.
- vivo T5 Lite 44W 5G: IP65 rating, which protects against dust and low-pressure water jets. It is a higher rating than IP54 for water and dust, but neither rating means the phone is waterproof for submersion.
Software support
Samsung’s launch announcement states six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. This is a company commitment, not a measured result, but it is the only one of the two that states a support duration. vivo’s specification page lists Android 16 with OriginOS 6 but does not state how many future updates or how many years of security patches the phone will receive. If long software support matters to you, ask vivo directly before you buy.

Price: what can and cannot be compared
There is no current, like-for-like price for these two phones in the material available. The figures on record are:
| Model and variant | Price in INR | Date and source |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy F17 5G, 4GB+128GB | ₹13,999 | Introductory price, announced 11 September 2025 (Samsung Newsroom India) |
| Samsung Galaxy F17 5G, 6GB+128GB | ₹15,499 | Introductory price, announced 11 September 2025 (Samsung Newsroom India) |
| Samsung Galaxy F17 5G, 8GB+128GB | ₹16,999 | Introductory price, announced 11 September 2025 (Samsung Newsroom India) |
| vivo T5 Lite 44W 5G, 6GB+256GB | ₹26,999 | Displayed on vivo Official E-Store India; retrieval date in 2026 not stated more precisely |
Samsung’s India product page showed “Not for sale” when it was checked, so it does not offer a current Samsung selling price. The vivo figure is for a different storage size (256GB against Samsung’s 128GB) and was captured at a different time from Samsung’s launch prices. The gap between the two figures ranges from ₹10,000 to ₹13,000 depending on which Samsung variant you pick, but that range mixes different dates, storage sizes and sources. It should not be read as the price difference you would pay today.

How to get a current, comparable price
- Open Samsung’s official India site and confirm whether the Galaxy F17 5G is listed for sale in your state or city.
- Open vivo’s official India store and select the T5 Lite 44W 5G.
- Pick the same RAM and storage on both sides. If Samsung lists only 128GB, compare against the vivo 128GB variant if one is offered, rather than the 256GB model.
- Record the date and the exact variant with each price. Prices change, and a launch price a year old is not a current quote.
- Compare the final price after any offers you qualify for, since advertised prices and final checkout prices can differ.
Which phone fits which buyer
- Choose the Samsung Galaxy F17 5G if you want an AMOLED display, optical image stabilisation on the main camera, and a stated six-year software commitment.
- Choose the vivo T5 Lite 44W 5G if you want a bigger battery, faster charging, a higher-rated IP65 water and dust resistance, and a 120Hz screen, and you can accept an LCD panel.
- Check both before deciding if the price difference matters to you. Current prices are the one number this comparison cannot supply.
Specifications, listings and availability may change, and both manufacturers’ figures should be checked against each company’s current product page before purchase.
