Dimensity 7300 Max vs 7400 Ultra: Which Chipset Is Better?

The base Dimensity 7400 lists a slightly higher maximum CPU clock, but available benchmark results are not a controlled comparison of the 7300 Max and 7400 Ultra.

There is not enough comparable evidence to name the Dimensity 7300 Max or Dimensity 7400 Ultra the clear winner. MediaTek’s published specifications cover the base Dimensity 7300 and 7400 platforms, not a complete specification sheet for these two branded variants. The base 7400’s Cortex-A78 cores are rated up to 2.6 GHz, versus up to 2.5 GHz on the base 7300; most other listed platform capabilities are shared. Benchmark figures available for the branded chips come from different device contexts, so they do not settle which one performs better in the same phone or workload.

What the official specifications say

MediaTek’s official pages describe the base Dimensity 7300 and Dimensity 7400 platforms. realme’s official product comparison uses the names Dimensity 7300 Max and Dimensity 7400 Ultra, but the available official material does not provide a comprehensive, direct specification sheet for those exact variants. Treat the table below as a comparison of the base platforms, not a guarantee that every Max or Ultra handset implements every feature identically.

What the clock difference means

The base 7400 lists a maximum Cortex-A78 clock 100 MHz higher than the base 7300. That is a specification difference, not proof of a particular real-world speed increase. Performance also depends on how a phone manages power and heat, as well as its software and memory configuration.

Why identical platform listings do not guarantee identical phones

Both base platforms list four Cortex-A78 cores, four Cortex-A55 cores and the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. The 7300 platform lists UFS 3.1 storage support, while the 7400 platform lists UFS 2.2 or UFS 3.1. The supported maximum does not tell you which storage type a manufacturer fitted to a particular handset. Check the exact model and regional SKU rather than inferring its configuration from the chipset name.

What the benchmark results show—and what they do not

91mobiles reports device-tested results for a Dimensity 7300 Max device and a Dimensity 7400 device. Its comparison labels the second chip “Dimensity 7400,” not “Dimensity 7400 Ultra.” The figures are therefore not an exact comparison of the two variants in this article.

Chip label in 91mobiles comparison AnTuTu Geekbench single-core Geekbench multi-core
Dimensity 7300 Max 983,589 1,003 2,869
Dimensity 7400 979,430 1,084 3,015

These are results reported by 91mobiles for tested devices, not guaranteed scores for every phone using either chip. The source’s comparison is available at 91mobiles’ Dimensity 7300 Max vs Dimensity 7400 page.

Separately, 91mobiles’ Dimensity 7400 Ultra listing reports 1,047,842 as the highest recorded AnTuTu result in its pool of tested devices. That is a device-tested maximum, not a controlled head-to-head result against a matched Dimensity 7300 Max phone. It should not be combined with the 7300 Max result above to declare a winner. See 91mobiles’ Dimensity 7400 Ultra listing.

Why scores vary between phones

Cooling, firmware, RAM, storage, benchmark version and power settings can all affect a device’s result. Without the same test method and closely matched phone conditions for both exact variants, small differences in reported scores cannot establish which chipset is faster overall.

Which one is better for gaming?

The platform specifications alone do not establish a gaming winner: both list the same Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, and the available benchmark evidence is not a controlled comparison of the exact Max and Ultra variants. A phone’s ability to sustain performance also depends on its cooling and power limits, so a brief peak result does not tell you how it will perform through a long gaming session.

For a gaming-focused choice, compare reviews or tests of the exact handsets you can buy. Look for sustained performance and heat during longer play, not just the chipset label or a single benchmark score.

How to choose between phones using these chips

Compare the complete handset and its exact regional model. The chipset is only one part of the experience; these details can make a more practical difference to your purchase:

  • Price and availability: Check current local pricing and whether the exact model is sold in your country.
  • RAM and storage: Confirm installed memory capacity and whether the phone uses UFS 2.2 or UFS 3.1 storage.
  • Gaming and heat: Seek sustained-load testing for the handset, including temperature or throttling observations.
  • Battery and charging: Compare the phone’s battery capacity, charging support and independent endurance results.
  • Display: Check the actual panel resolution and refresh rate; platform support does not specify what the phone includes.
  • Cameras: Compare the fitted sensors and camera results. Support for a sensor up to 200 MP does not establish image quality.
  • Software support: Check the manufacturer’s update policy for that model and market.
  • Regional SKU: Verify the exact chipset, wireless bands and memory/storage configuration for the version sold where you live.

Verdict

The base Dimensity 7400 has a 100 MHz higher maximum Cortex-A78 clock than the base 7300, while both list the same CPU core arrangement and Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. That modest specification distinction does not prove a clear real-world advantage for the Dimensity 7400 Ultra over the Dimensity 7300 Max. Choose between the phones on their verified configurations, sustained performance, software support and price—not on non-matched benchmark figures.
