There is no single best pick for every player: the games suit different kinds of run-building.
How the three games differ
| Game | What the dice are part of | Where decisions center | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dicevaders | Dice support scoring synergies: matching pairs, triples, and quadruples can trigger combos, and the game describes Chrono and budge mechanics for manipulating dice. (Official Steam listing.) | Placing invaders on a turn-based grid, building an alien force, and acquiring units and artifacts. | Players who enjoy tactical placement and shaping a build during a run. |
| Dicey Dungeons | A dice-driven, single-player roguelike. The cited Steam listing establishes its identity and genre, but does not support a detailed mechanics comparison here. | Characters and equipment, according to the comparison information available. | Players looking for an established dice roguelike with a character-and-equipment focus. |
| Dice A Million | Dice contribute to escalating score runs alongside cards and rings; PC Gamer describes increasingly difficult bosses and rising shop prices. | Score-building combinations and shop-driven upgrades, as described by PC Gamer. | Players drawn to compounding upgrades and runs built around raising a score. |
These are useful distinctions, not a complete mechanics-by-mechanics audit: the available descriptions do not establish comparable details for every system in all three games.

Why choose Dicevaders?
It makes placement and dice manipulation part of the same plan
Dicevaders is described on Steam as a dice-based roguelike deckbuilder set in the StarVaders universe. You build an alien force on a turn-based grid, acquire units and artifacts, and place invaders to improve scoring. Its dice are not just a passive roll to accept: the description highlights Chrono and budge mechanics, alongside combo opportunities from matching pairs, triples, and quadruples. That combination makes it the clearest fit of these three for someone who wants tactical board placement and ways to steer dice toward a build.

Its announced content gives runs several kinds of variation
In its September 29, 2026 launch announcement, the developer advertised 10 commanders, more than 60 units, 120 artifacts, more than 30 constellations, six difficulty levels, a multiverse campaign with 13 additional challenge modes, and daily challenges. These are developer-published counts, not independently audited totals. They suggest several routes for varying a run, but do not by themselves establish how balanced or replayable those options are.
How to read its Steam review figure
Steam showed Dicevaders at 94% positive from 288 user reviews when the listing was checked on October 4, 2026. That is a dated Steam snapshot, not a survey or an independent quality rating. The review count and percentage can change, and the figure alone cannot tell you whether the game’s particular placement-and-dice loop suits you.

- Mini Rogue is a game profoundly inspired by roguelikes and roleplaying games. Monsters, hazards, treasures, bosses, dungeons, as well as random rooms and encounters are all featured in this new and revised version of Mini Rogue.
- You play as an adventurer delving into a dungeon, room after room, floor after floor, area after area, level after level, to find the Og’s Blood, rumored to be a fabled and mysterious ruby gemstone.
- Each area of the dungeon is laid out as a branching path of rooms. Each time you face two rooms, you will have to choose and explore one. You will resolve each encounter by rolling dice and managing resources to complete your adventure.
- In each room, you may encounter a monster, find a treasure, discover a resting area, meet a merchant, dodge traps, or face many other surprising events. Each level ends with a powerful Boss monster which you will have to defeat to continue onto to the next level. You win the game by reaching the last room of the Dungeon and defeating the final Boss Monster, thus collecting the Og’s Blood.
- 30 minutes of gameplay for 1 to 2 players, ages 12 and above.
When Dicey Dungeons is the better fit
Pick Dicey Dungeons if a character-and-equipment alternative sounds more appealing than Dicevaders’ grid placement and alien-force building. It is a single-player dice-driven roguelike by Terry Cavanagh, who is listed as both developer and publisher on Steam. The Steam release date is August 13, 2019. Those established identity and release details make it a straightforward alternative to consider, but they do not justify assuming that its individual dice systems work like Dicevaders’ Chrono, budge, or matching-combo mechanics.

When Dice A Million is the better fit
Consider Dice A Million if you are more interested in pushing a score upward through accumulating upgrades than in the grid-placement focus described for Dicevaders. PC Gamer’s March 4, 2026 overview characterizes its runs as combining dice, cards, and rings, with harsher bosses and higher shop prices as a run progresses. That is a journalistic overview, not a complete official feature specification, so it supports this broad contrast rather than a precise system-by-system comparison.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A quick way to choose
- Choose Dicevaders for grid tactics, building an alien force, and manipulating dice to pursue scoring combos.
- Choose Dicey Dungeons for a single-player dice roguelike whose alternative appeal is characters and equipment.
- Choose Dice A Million for score escalation, upgrade choices, and the pressure of increasingly harsh bosses and shop prices described by PC Gamer.
If you are deciding specifically between Dicevaders and Dicey Dungeons, the key question is whether you want a run organized around placing units on a grid or one whose stated appeal here is characters and equipment. If score escalation and shop upgrades are what you want, Dice A Million is the closer match among these options.
