Dicevaders sets its turn-based tactics on a grid: you build an alien force by acquiring units and artifacts, then place invaders to develop scoring potential. Dice combinations—not simply high rolls—are central to the strategy. Matching dice in pairs, triples, or quadruples can activate combos.

The game also gives you ways to influence the roll. Nintendo’s description says chrono can be spent to reroll dice or restock the shop, while budge manipulates a throw. The intended loop is to weigh those resources against the opportunities in your current setup, rather than treat each roll as an outcome you must accept.
What changes from one run to another?
Commanders offer different strategic approaches, perks, artifacts, and synergies. Their combinations shape how you build scoring potential, while the StarVaders pilots—Earth’s defenders from the StarVaders universe—appear as opponents and can disrupt the invasion. Together, these systems give players different ways to develop a run.

Does Dicevaders use Joy-Con 2 mouse controls?
Yes. Nintendo says the Switch 2 edition optionally supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls for enhanced precision. That is a control option, not a stated requirement; the game is also listed for handheld, tabletop, and TV play. Nintendo identifies the game as single-player, with one player on one system.
