To deploy a Node.js app through ScalaHosting’s documented SPanel workflow, upload its files to your server, open NodeJS Manager, and submit the app’s URL, listening port, and folder path. This walkthrough assumes you already have access to a ScalaHosting VPS with SPanel; the available Node.js interface may differ on other hosting plans.
What you need before deploying
- An SPanel VPS account and access to the SPanel User Interface. ScalaHosting describes SPanel as included with its managed cloud VPS solutions; its login instructions depend on which account credentials you use. The domain’s
/spanelpath is one described login route, not a guarantee for every account configuration. See ScalaHosting’s SPanel getting-started guide. - Your app’s deployable files and its own deployment instructions. Build steps, dependency installation, environment variables, and runtime requirements vary by app; the SPanel deployment guide does not establish a universal setup for them.
ScalaHosting’s article, “Installing Node.js on a VPS Server,” by Borislav Tonev (published December 2, 2021; reviewed January 21, 2026), says Node.js is configured on its SPanel servers and describes NodeJS Manager as the launch tool. Follow the steps below for the interface and settings documented there: ScalaHosting’s Node.js deployment guide.

Upload the application files
Choose a folder on the server for the application, then upload its files using SPanel File Manager or an FTP client. Make sure the files are arranged as your app’s deployment documentation expects; the SPanel guide does not prescribe a framework-specific build or upload layout.

- In the SPanel User Interface, open NodeJS Manager.
- Select Deploy a New App.
- Enter the application URL, the port the app will listen on, and the path to the app folder you uploaded. ScalaHosting’s guide specifies a port range of 3000–3500.
- Select Deploy. The app should then appear in the NodeJS Manager list of deployed applications.
Manage or remove a deployed app
Use the app’s Actions menu in NodeJS Manager to select Stop, Restart, or Undeploy. Undeploy is the removal action; the guide does not describe it as a way to delete the uploaded files, so check the panel and your file-management workflow before removing anything you may need.
Domain, HTTPS, and app-specific settings
SPanel includes domain, DNS, and SSL certificate tools, but the cited Node.js guide does not give a Node.js-specific routing or HTTPS procedure. Do not assume that configuring the app in NodeJS Manager alone publishes a particular URL or provisions its certificate; use the relevant SPanel settings and your app’s deployment documentation, or ask ScalaHosting support if the required routing or runtime settings are unclear.
The guide also does not define universal commands for building an app, installing packages, setting environment variables, or viewing logs. Follow the project’s own instructions for these details rather than applying a generic command to every Node.js framework.

Is SSH required?
No SSH step appears in ScalaHosting’s SPanel deployment sequence. If your app’s own setup calls for shell access, ScalaHosting says SSH access is enabled per account, disabled by default, and uses port 6543 rather than the default 22. See ScalaHosting’s SSH access instructions.
