When Delta Wi-Fi is free—and when you may have to pay
Delta Sync Wi-Fi is free for SkyMiles Members on most equipped domestic and international flights. Membership is free to join. Delta is still transitioning aircraft, however, so some flights may use Wi-Fi Onboard and offer paid access instead. An itinerary with connections can have different Wi-Fi services on different segments.

Delta’s onboard Wi-Fi information describes the available services and Flight Pass access: Delta onboard Wi-Fi. Availability depends on aircraft and route; having Wi-Fi on one leg does not establish that the same service will be available on the next.
How much does a Delta Wi-Fi Flight Pass cost?
Delta does not state a single current dollar price that applies to every flight. A Flight Pass may be offered on flights using Wi-Fi Onboard, but the price is flight-specific; check the onboard portal when it is available and review the displayed price before purchasing. Do not rely on an old price or assume that a pass is available for every flight.

How to check Wi-Fi for your flight before boarding
- Check each segment. Look at the Wi-Fi service information for the aircraft assigned to each flight. Delta notes that connecting flights can use different services.
- Look for Delta’s free-Wi-Fi indicator. Booking results, pre-flight emails, app notifications, aircraft decals, or a flight attendant can help confirm whether a flight has free Delta Sync Wi-Fi.
- Join SkyMiles if you plan to use Delta Sync. Membership is free, and signing in is the access method for free Wi-Fi on eligible Delta Sync flights.
- Confirm the price onboard if a pass is offered. Use the Wi-Fi portal to see the available option and its price before buying.
Delta lists aircraft services and ways to check availability on its onboard Wi-Fi page. Aircraft assignments and service availability can change, so the information for your specific flight is more useful than a general price estimate.

Does paying for a pass make the connection faster?
No. On Delta Sync aircraft, Delta says free SkyMiles access and a purchased Flight Pass provide the same speed. The pass is not a faster tier.
Can you message for free without buying internet?
Delta offers free messaging on flights with Wi-Fi capability, including flights where general internet access requires payment. If messaging is all you need, check whether your flight has Wi-Fi capability before purchasing a pass.

How widely is Delta Sync Wi-Fi available?
In a May 14, 2026 update, Delta reported that more than 1,200 aircraft had fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi and that customers had made more than 160 million sessions since launch. Those are figures reported by Delta, not independent measurements; they do not guarantee Wi-Fi on a particular aircraft or route. See Delta’s May 14, 2026 update.
