On a Dell laptop, look for a key marked ScrLk or Scroll Lock. If there is no dedicated key, Scroll Lock may be an Fn shortcut, and the combination varies by model: documented examples include Fn+S on some Inspiron laptops and Fn+F6 on several Latitude models.
How to find Scroll Lock on your Dell laptop
- Inspect the key legends. Look for “ScrLk” or “Scroll Lock.” It may appear as a secondary marking on a key rather than as a separate key.
- Check the exact model’s keyboard guide. Dell keyboards do not share one Scroll Lock location or shortcut. Identify the laptop model from its support label, system information, or purchase documents, then consult the corresponding Dell documentation.
- Use Fn only when the model documentation calls for it. Dell notes that you may need to hold Fn first for a secondary function. If the printed legend or model guide does not match a proposed shortcut, do not try random combinations.

These are model-specific examples, not interchangeable shortcuts for every Dell laptop. In particular, Fn+S and Fn+F6 are not universal fallbacks; confirm the combination in the guide for your own model.

What to do if your keyboard has no Scroll Lock key
If your model’s guide shows no built-in key or shortcut, an external USB keyboard with a dedicated Scroll Lock key is an optional physical workaround. Check the keyboard’s layout before buying, because keyboards do not all include the same keys.
