To delete a Max account, first cancel its subscription through the company that bills you and wait for the subscription to expire. Then submit a deletion request in the Max app or at max.com/account-delete, and confirm it using the email Max sends. Max says deletion usually takes 4 to 5 weeks for accounts that qualify.
Cancel the subscription before requesting account deletion
Canceling a subscription and deleting a Max account are separate actions. Max says a deletion request can be submitted only after the subscription has expired. Canceling stops the next renewal; you can generally keep streaming through the end of the paid period.

Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Max subscriptions may be billed directly by Max or through another company, and the cancellation route depends on the biller. Max’s cancellation guide notes that subscriptions renew automatically until canceled and advises canceling before the next billing date to avoid another charge. Its instructions are localized, so provider options and exact steps may vary by country.

Find out who bills your subscription
Open the Max app and view the account’s Subscription screen, or visit max.com/subscription. The screen identifies the billing provider. If you cannot find it there, check your bank or card statement, or ask your internet, mobile, or TV provider whether it bills you for Max.

Cancel through the billing provider
- If Max bills you: Sign in at max.com/subscription and select Cancel Your Subscription.
- If another company bills you: Cancel through that provider’s account settings or help center. Depending on your location and subscription, the biller could be an app store, a streaming device platform, or an internet, mobile, or TV provider.
If you do not see a cancel option in Max, check the Subscription screen for the biller and use that company’s cancellation instructions. Keep access to the account and email until the subscription expires and you finish the deletion confirmation.
Wait for the paid period to end
After cancellation, wait until the subscription expires before sending the deletion request. Canceling does not necessarily end access immediately: Max says streaming remains available until the end of the subscription period. The deletion instructions are from Max’s Australia Help Center, while its cancellation guidance is from another locale, so localized labels and provider availability may differ.

Submit and confirm the deletion request
- On a phone or tablet: Sign in to the Max app, choose a profile, then select Privacy & Legal > Delete My Account. Max opens a browser form.
- On a computer: Go to max.com/account-delete.
- Enter the information requested for the account and submit the form.
- Open the email from Max with the subject “Your request to delete your account”, then select Delete My Account to confirm. Submitting the form alone does not complete the request.
Max says it usually deletes accounts that qualify within 4 to 5 weeks and emails you when deletion is complete. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed deadline.

What account deletion does—and does not—remove
- The Max app stays installed on your devices; deleting the account does not uninstall it.
- If you create a new account using the same email address, it will not inherit the old account’s settings, downloads, or watch history.
For a request to access or delete personal information, rather than delete the streaming account, Max describes a separate Individual Rights Request form and refers users to its privacy policy. Its help article says the subscription must be canceled before a deletion request. See Max’s privacy-options instructions for the distinction and applicable process.
