Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Choose DeepSeek Harness if you want to build or customize an agent runtime from plugins and profiles; choose OpenHands if you want a documented path for automating repository work from a GitHub issue through pull-request review. That is a workflow-fit recommendation based on each project’s documentation, not a head-to-head performance verdict.
How the projects differ
Both projects are open-source agent harnesses, but their documentation emphasizes different ways of working. DeepSeek Harness presents a plugin-composed architecture for assembling an agent environment. OpenHands documents configurable agent sessions and a repository-focused workflow that can start from a GitHub issue or comment.
| Decision axis | DeepSeek Harness | OpenHands |
|---|---|---|
| Documented shape | A plugin-based harness with profiles and replaceable components; its architecture identifies Cordis as the framework under dsh. DeepSeek Harness architecture |

| Strongest workflow signal | Building or tailoring an agent environment through plugins and profiles. | Triggering work from an issue or comment and reviewing the result as a pull request. |
| Configuration evidence | Architecture and project materials emphasize composable plugin configuration. | Settings expose model and API details, sandbox/container images, MCP servers, iteration limits, and budget settings. OpenHands Store Settings API reference |
| Maturity signal | DeepSeek labels Harness a developer preview, so interfaces may change. When DeepSeek Harness is the better fit
DeepSeek Harness is the more natural choice when your main task is composing an agent environment rather than adopting a ready-documented issue-to-pull-request workflow. Its architecture documentation describes plugins and profiles for different application shapes, with Cordis beneath dsh. The project’s phrase “Everything is a plugin” communicates its design direction; it is project positioning, not independent proof of flexibility in every integration scenario.
The important trade-off is preview status. DeepSeek calls Harness a developer preview, which matters if your team depends on stable interfaces or wants to commit to a runtime without having to reassess changes. Review the current project status and validate the plugins and profile structure your application actually needs before building around it. DeepSeek Harness developer preview and architecture

- Server-grade thermal architecture: Utilizing a dedicated CPU/GPU airflow design, equipped with a 6-pipe dual-fan cooler, it maintains stable performance even under sustained loads, delivering up to 140W Turbo power while maintaining a 100W TDP, and operating with noise levels as low as 36 dB. An integrated 350W power supply ensures stable and reliable output for demanding computing tasks and fully loaded extended configurations.
When OpenHands is the better fit
OpenHands fits teams whose unit of work is a repository issue and whose process includes human review of a proposed change. Its documented GitHub Action can be triggered with an issue label or a comment macro; the agent attempts the work and maintainers can review the outcome through a pull request. OpenHands GitHub Action
OpenHands also makes deployment choices explicit in its settings documentation. You can configure model identifiers and API details, sandbox or container images, MCP servers, iteration limits, and budget settings. That is useful when evaluating whether the harness can be aligned with your existing model and execution environment, but it also means those choices need to be configured and verified for your deployment. Check provider and model configuration
OpenHands documents a Groq-specific setup path as well as a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint path. Its supported-models API reference says that available model identifiers depend on the providers configured on a given server. In practice, do not assume a model identifier is available everywhere just because it appears in a general example; confirm the provider setup and model list for the deployment you intend to use. OpenHands Groq configuration
Choose by the work you need to support
- Building a customizable runtime: Start with DeepSeek Harness if plugin composition and profiles are central to your design, and you can accommodate developer-preview software.
- Automating repository issues: Start with OpenHands if you want an issue or comment to trigger an agent attempt and a pull request to serve as the review artifact.
- Stable interfaces are essential: Treat DeepSeek’s stated preview status as a material consideration. The available OpenHands documentation does not, by itself, prove a comparative reliability advantage.
- Deployment controls matter: Compare OpenHands’ documented model, sandbox, MCP, iteration, and budget settings with the configuration points your environment requires.
- Performance, security, or cost decides the choice: The cited documentation does not provide controlled head-to-head results on speed, reliability, security, or cost. Evaluate those dimensions with your own representative tasks and deployment constraints rather than inferring a winner from feature descriptions.
What the documentation can—and cannot—settle
Official project documentation is useful for understanding intended architecture, configuration options, and documented workflows. It is not independent validation that either harness is faster, safer, more reliable, or less expensive. Both integrations and configuration details can change, so check the relevant project documentation when making a deployment decision.
