That is a chart position, not a player total, and it reflects the moment the chart was observed rather than a lasting ranking. SteamDB says its top-thousand games are refreshed every five minutes and other games every ten minutes, so the current-player rank can change quickly. A separate dated report from AFK Journal said Deadlock was eighth on a Steam chart snapshot dated September 30, 2026. That earlier position does not conflict with the later tenth-place observation: the figures were recorded at different times, and ranks move as players enter and leave games. AFK Journal’s report is a secondary account, not an official Valve ranking.

What is Deadlock’s peak player count?
SteamDB’s individual Deadlock chart page reported an all-time concurrent-player peak of 228,208 on October 2, 2026. This is the highest concurrent count recorded on that tracker, not the number playing now. SteamDB is a third-party tracker and says it is not affiliated with Valve or Steam; attribute the statistic to SteamDB rather than to Valve. See Deadlock’s SteamDB chart.

What does “most-played” mean on Steam?
A Steam chart claim needs a metric and a timestamp. “Current players” is a snapshot of people playing at that moment. A 24-hour peak is the highest concurrent count during the preceding day. An all-time peak is the highest concurrent count recorded over the game’s tracked history. A game can therefore have a high all-time peak while sitting lower on a current-player chart.
When comparing two reports, check the measure, the observation date and time zone, and who published the chart. The tenth-place SteamDB current-player snapshot, the September 30 report of eighth place, and the October 2 all-time peak describe separate observations—not one continuous ranking.

Is Deadlock released yet?
Valve’s Steam listing describes Deadlock as a multiplayer game in early development. It says access is currently limited to friend invites via playtesters, gives the release date as “To be announced,” and indicates that the game is not yet available on Steam for general access. A high chart count is notable in that invite-limited context, but it does not mean Deadlock has launched broadly. Valve’s Steam listing for Deadlock is the source for its access and release status.
