Which Danganronpa game should you play first?
Start with Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, then move on to Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. This is the series order supported by Spike Chunsoft: its announcement describes Trigger Happy Havoc as the first game in the franchise. The publisher dates its original Japanese PSP release to November 25, 2010.

What if you’re choosing an edition of Danganronpa 2?
Spike Chunsoft says the original 2012 Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair scenario will be included in refreshed form in Danganronpa 2×2. The same release also contains a separate new scenario based on Goodbye Despair, with a different storyline. These are distinct scenarios; the new one should not be mistaken for the original game’s plot.

This is an upcoming release containing a refreshed version of the original scenario, not the original standalone release of Danganronpa 2.
