You are producing a live service
Dacast’s documented church setup is built around a live camera and an encoder sending a feed into a streaming platform. Its multistreaming page says the feed can be sent to YouTube and custom RTMP destinations, and names OBS, Wirecast, and vMix as compatible encoders. That makes Dacast the more relevant of these two services when volunteers are producing worship in real time rather than replaying a library.

You want a church-site player and sermon library
Dacast describes a branded player, recording and later sermon playback, security options, analytics, and donation or paywall options. Those features may matter if the church wants its own viewing experience or an archive beyond a YouTube playlist. Confirm the details of the current plan and the access controls your congregation needs.
Budget for the actual live hours
Dacast’s multistreaming page states that multistreaming-hour allowances differ by plan, with the page listing five hours on Starter and 40 hours on Custom. These are volatile plan details, so verify the current allowance against your expected schedule before relying on them for weekly or continuous use. A Dacast-authored guide dated April 29, 2026 listed Starter at $39/month and Scale at $165/month; these are the guide’s published prices, not a current quote, and should be checked on Dacast’s live pricing pages.

When Gyre is the closer fit
You want recordings to play as a continuous stream
Gyre’s documented workflow is to upload prerecorded files, make a playlist, connect a YouTube account, schedule the stream, and let the playlist repeat. This suits an archive channel or a continuous replay schedule; it does not replace a live camera production. Gyre says the stream runs in its cloud, so the creator does not need to keep a laptop running. Treat that as a vendor-described capability rather than an independent uptime guarantee.
Check tier limits against the sermon library
Gyre’s product page, accessed October 3, 2026, displayed Start, Start+, and PRO+ tiers with different stream counts, storage, quality, playlist, and scheduling features. The displayed storage allocations were 35 GB, 75 GB, and 150 GB respectively; the page also showed one, four, or eight simultaneous HD streams, with separate 4K allowances on some tiers. Its displayed free trial was seven days, with a watermark on the trial and no watermark shown on paid plans. These are live-page details that can change; verify the current plan, quality limits, storage, trial, and price before purchase.

What to check before choosing for a church
Live service versus replay expectations
Tell viewers clearly whether a stream is live or a replay. A scheduled loop can make sermons available outside service hours, but it is not a substitute for real-time worship, pastoral announcements, or interaction. If you need both, plan for separate live and replay workflows.
Rights for music and other material
Neither a streaming platform nor a YouTube connection grants permission to broadcast copyrighted worship music, recordings, lyrics, or other material. Confirm that the church’s licenses and permissions cover the specific songs, recordings, use, platforms, territories, and archive period. Dacast’s April 29, 2026 guide discusses CCLI and YouTube Content ID, but rights depend on the relevant rights holders, licenses, jurisdictions, and current platform terms. A Content ID claim or block can affect a broadcast regardless of which service sends it.

Audience, privacy, and archive needs
- Decide whether the main destination is YouTube, a church website player, or both.
- Establish whether the archive should be public, restricted, or available only to a defined audience; compare the providers’ current access-control options rather than assuming YouTube and a branded player behave alike.
- Estimate the size of the recording library and how often playlists change. Match that need to the plan’s storage and scheduling features.
