In CSR2, a lock-in is a commitment, not a temporary garage selection. In a Collections Cup, you choose one qualified car before entering, and Zynga Player Support says that car cannot be exchanged for another after it is locked. Collections themselves unlock at player level 60, use Car Credits to acquire cars, and add Rookie and Veteran Tasks that affect your long-term rewards.
The safest approach is to identify the exact mode, confirm the current eligible-car list, check which tasks and events need each candidate, and only then spend credits or upgrades. A Collections Cup lock-in and a time-limited event lock-in are related ideas, but they do not share one universal rule set.

What a CSR2 collection lock-in actually means
Collections are a persistent progression feature in CSR2. Once the feature is available, you work through named Collections, acquire their eligible cars with Car Credits, and complete tasks tied to those cars. A Collections Cup is a race series associated with that system.

For a Collections Cup, Zynga Player Support gives the decisive rule: “Once a car is locked in, you won’t be able to switch it with another car.” Each locked car participates in multiple races. The lock-in therefore determines which car you will use for that cup, rather than merely reserving a car on a pre-race screen.

That rule applies to the documented Collections Cup mechanic. It should not be generalized to every CSR2 event. Limited-time events publish their own required-car lists, entry conditions and deadlines, so read the live event announcement and the race screen before assuming that a lock-in is permanent, reversible or interchangeable.
When Collections unlock and what to do if they are missing
Level requirement
According to Zynga Player Support, Collections unlock at player level 60. If you have reached that level and cannot find the feature, the support guidance is to force-close CSR2 and update the app. Because the feature display can depend on the current app build and account state, check the in-game instructions again after restarting rather than relying on an old screenshot or menu location.
A practical first check
- Confirm your player level is at least 60.
- Install any CSR2 update offered by your device’s app store.
- Force-close the game completely, then launch it again.
- Open the Collections area and read the current unlock and eligibility text shown for your account.
- If the feature remains absent, use the current Zynga support route for account-specific help; menu names and rollout behavior can change between versions.
How Collections progression works
Collection access and car acquisition
The September 2024 official Collections announcement describes two ways a Collection can become available: reaching its required Collection Rank or acquiring any car from that Collection. Once a Collection is accessible, its cars can be acquired with Car Credits.

Zynga Player Support says you can earn credits through Collections Cup races or purchase them with real money in the Marketplace. The September 2024 announcement also identifies events such as Collections Cups and Showdowns as earning opportunities, alongside in-app purchases. Paid credits are optional; the official material does not say that spending is required to make a sound lock-in decision.
Rookie Tasks
The Rookie stage is the entry point for a car in a Collection. The official announcement defines the Rookie Task as: “Acquire and lock the car into the Collection.” In practical terms, this is where the car becomes part of your Collection progression and where you make the commitment that matters for a Collections Cup.
Veteran Tasks
Veteran Tasks are additional, car-specific objectives after the initial acquisition. The announcement describes them as performing certain tasks with the car to unlock further rewards. Completing Veteran Tasks grants a permanent Respect Points boost for that car, so a car’s value is not limited to its performance in the cup where you first used it.

Ranks, perks and completion rewards
- Ranking up a Collection can award Keys, Cash, Gold or additional Car Credits.
- Collection Perks provide permanent progression bonuses.
- Completing every car and all Veteran Tasks in a Collection earns an exclusive profile sticker.
These rewards make the choice broader than a single race. Before locking a car, inspect the Collection rank, remaining Rookie or Veteran objectives and the rewards attached to the next milestones.

The reviewed official sources do not identify one universally best car. Your qualified cars, upgrade state, available resources and future objectives determine the sensible choice. Use the following process rather than choosing solely by real-world prestige or headline horsepower.
1. Confirm the mode
Read the heading and entry screen. If it is a Collections Cup, apply the documented irreversible lock-in rule. If it is a separate live event, treat its requirements as event-specific until the current announcement says otherwise.
2. List only qualified cars
Open the current Collection or event list and remove every car that is not explicitly eligible. A car that appears strong in your garage is irrelevant if it does not satisfy that race’s requirements.
3. Check your actual progression
Compare Collection Rank requirements and task status. A car that opens a needed Collection or completes a near-finished Veteran Task can provide more progression value than a car that is marginally faster but starts a new, expensive path.
4. Compare preparation costs
Review the upgrades, fusion parts, tuning and cash required for each candidate using the resources currently in your account. Do not assume that a car’s showroom rating predicts its result in a particular cup; the event’s restrictions and your build determine what you can enter and finish.

5. Check competing commitments
Look at upcoming or active events and unfinished tasks that name the same car. The official sources do not provide a universal formula for calculating this opportunity cost, and they do not establish that a locked car is unavailable elsewhere. The safe action is to verify the current event screens and plan your resources around the specific overlap you can see.
6. Lock only after the final review
Once the candidate meets the exact eligibility list and you accept the remaining races and preparation cost, lock it in. After a Collections Cup lock-in, support says you cannot replace it with another car.

The distinction matters because a player can read a guide about a Collections Cup and incorrectly apply it to a different event. Always treat the live event’s own instructions as controlling for that event.
Car Credits: earning, buying and budgeting
Earning through play
Official descriptions list Collections Cup races as a source of Car Credits and also mention Showdowns and other events. Your available earning routes can vary with the current schedule, so inspect the active event panels rather than assuming a particular race is always present.
Buying in the Marketplace
Car Credits can also be purchased for real money in the Marketplace. Store contents and prices vary by region, account and date. A purchase can accelerate access to a Collection, but it does not remove the need to select an eligible car or understand the lock-in rule.
A conservative budget rule
- Reserve enough credits for the car that completes your chosen Collection path, not just the first attractive offer.
- Keep cash, Gold and upgrade materials for the races that follow the lock-in.
- Do not buy credits merely because a car looks rare or powerful; the official sources do not establish a universal performance advantage for any one lock-in.
- Recheck the event deadline and regional store availability before paying.
Tasks and rewards after the initial lock-in
Locking a car is only the start of Collection progression. Track the remaining objectives in the car’s Collection panel so that you do not overlook permanent benefits.

Veteran-task planning
Read every Veteran Task before committing upgrades. Because the tasks are car-specific, they can require actions beyond simply winning the cup. Finishing them provides the permanent Respect Points boost described in the official announcement.

Use the rank reward preview to decide whether your next target is Keys, Cash, Gold or Car Credits. A rank-up reward can change which Collection is affordable next, especially if you are earning credits through events rather than buying them.
Completion planning
If you intend to earn the exclusive profile sticker, record which cars and Veteran Tasks remain. Completion requires all cars and all Veteran Tasks in that Collection, not merely one successful lock-in.

Superveloce Ascension Duality
Zynga’s announcement dated October 7, 2026 described the Superveloce Ascension Duality event featuring the Lamborghini Revuelto SV. It stated that players had to lock in two required entry cars and complete all event races to win the prize car. The announcement gave an availability window through October 14, 2026. That window has passed, so this is a historical illustration of event-specific requirements, not a current opportunity on October 16, 2026.
CSR2 update 6.4.0 examples
The official 6.4.0 update page listed five Ferrari cars for the ROSSO MARANELLO Finale and two cars for APEX AEROS. Those April–May 2026 dates are historical. The useful lesson is that required-car lists differ from event to event; the list for one event cannot be used to prepare for another.

Mistake: entering before checking the entire cup
A lock-in affects multiple races, not just the first one. Read the full cup requirements and confirm that your candidate can be prepared for the complete series.
Mistake: confusing a Collection with a live event
Persistent Collections and temporary events can both use the word “lock.” Identify the mode on the screen and follow that mode’s current instructions.
Mistake: assuming a purchase guarantees success
Buying Car Credits gives access to cars; it does not guarantee eligibility, a completed build or a win. Confirm the required list and your upgrade budget first.
Mistake: relying on an old event guide
Dates, cars and store contents change. Historical pages such as the 6.4.0 examples are useful for understanding variation, but they are not current entry instructions.

If you locked the wrong car
For a Collections Cup, the support wording says the locked car cannot be switched. Do not spend additional resources expecting a replacement button to appear. Instead, review the remaining races, complete any feasible Veteran Tasks and wait for a future Collection or event whose requirements fit your garage. For a separate event, consult that event’s current support text because its remedy may differ.
Pre-commitment checklist
- Player level is at least 60 and Collections is visible.
- The exact mode is identified as Collections Cup or another live event.
- The chosen car appears on the current qualified list.
- Collection Rank and Rookie/Veteran Task requirements are understood.
- You have enough Car Credits, cash, Gold and upgrade materials for the full commitment.
- Other active or upcoming events do not create an avoidable conflict.
- The event deadline and regional Marketplace terms have been checked.
- You accept that a Collections Cup lock-in cannot be switched after entry.
What the official sources do—and do not—establish
The official CSR2 game page markets the game as featuring “over 50 officially licensed vehicles”; that is an undated marketing claim accessed October 13, 2026, not an independent count of cars available in every Collection. Zynga’s official materials establish the level-60 unlock, Car Credit routes, task structure and Collections Cup lock-in rule described above. They do not publish a universal best car, a success-rate statistic or a spending amount required to complete a Collection.
Make the decision from the current in-game eligibility list and your own garage state. That evidence is more relevant than a general ranking, because the correct choice can change with the Collection, event, version and date.
