The likely checks depend on what the player is doing. A completely unresponsive unit needs a power check; a powered unit with a stationary platter needs function, connection, and belt checks. Set the player to the record-playing function, often labeled PHONO, and use the start procedure specified for your model. Check Aux In on the CR8005F
For the CR8005F specifically, Crosley lists a cable plugged into the Aux In jack as a reason the platter may not turn. Unplug it and check whether the platter starts. Do not assume this applies to models without the same connection or behavior. CR8005F manual and support

Inspect the drive belt using the matching guide
A slipped drive belt is another no-spin cause listed in the CR8005F manual. Crosley’s US support page has belt setup instructions for different platter designs, including designs with a window and those with an underside hub, as well as a belt-changing video. Replace a belt only if inspection shows it is missing, slipped, stretched, or damaged. Tell a stopped platter apart from other playback problems
The platter turns too fast or too slowly
If the platter rotates, check that the selected speed matches the record and adjust the pitch control if your model has one. Crosley also advises checking the belt when speed is wrong. Do not judge speed by record diameter alone: some 33-size records are intended to play at 45 RPM. Check the label, sleeve, or record instructions. Crosley support
The platter spins, but there is no sound
This is not the same fault as a stationary platter. For the CR8005F, the manual lists a stylus protector left in place, a raised tonearm cue lever, and plugged-in headphones among the checks. What the CR8005F’s features do—and do not—tell you
Crosley describes the CR8005F Cruiser Plus as a belt-drive player that supports 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM and has Aux In, pitch control, a cueing lever, and auto-stop.
