What Create: Perfect World 2 is—and what the server must match
CurseForge describes Create: Perfect World 2 as a lightweight, Create-focused Vanilla+ modpack for Minecraft 1.20.1, assembled by MrBeardstone and his mod team for the Create: Perfect World 2 YouTube series. It combines a full questline with building, storage, farming, quality-of-life and performance additions. The prominent mods include Create, Create: Steam and Rails, Copycats+, Chipped, Sophisticated Backpacks, Just Enough Items, Storage Drawers, Farmer’s Delight, Aquaculture 2, Naturalist and Macaw’s building mods.
The official files listing targets Minecraft 1.20.1 and the Forge loader. The main 0.5 client archive was uploaded on October 28, 2024; the same listing contains a separate server archive named SERVER Create- Perfect World 2-0.5.zip. The project had 358,312 downloads when checked in 2026, while the 0.5 client file showed 231.2K downloads. Those figures are project activity, not a guarantee of current support or server performance.

Every participant needs a compatible combination of Minecraft version, loader and pack version. A client on another Minecraft release, a different Forge build or a different pack revision can fail during login even when the server itself starts normally.
Decide between self-hosting and managed hosting
There are two practical ways to put the pack online. Self-hosting gives you complete access to the world and files and avoids a monthly server bill. Managed hosting places the files on a provider’s machine and supplies a control panel, so you generally do not have to expose your home router or keep your own computer running.

For a few friends, start with self-hosting if the prospective host has dependable upload bandwidth and can stay online during play sessions. Choose managed hosting when friends need access at arbitrary times, nobody wants to configure a router, or a home connection uses carrier-grade NAT.
Requirements before you install anything
- A Minecraft Java Edition installation that can run version 1.20.1 with Forge.
- The exact Create: Perfect World 2 client profile for each player.
- The matching server-pack archive, SERVER Create- Perfect World 2-0.5.zip, for the dedicated server.
- A separate directory on the host computer with enough free storage for the unpacked server, logs and a growing world save.
- Permission to run the server process and allow Java through the operating system firewall.
- For internet play from a home connection, administrator access to the router and a stable local address for the host computer.
Do not treat the client ZIP as a server installation. A client pack can contain graphics, menu or other client-only mods that a dedicated server cannot load.

Self-host Create: Perfect World 2 step by step
1. Confirm the version and download the server pack
- In the modpack’s CurseForge Files page, verify that the selected release is the 0.5 line for Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge.
- Download the file whose name begins SERVER: SERVER Create- Perfect World 2-0.5.zip. Keep the client archive for the players’ launchers, not for the server directory.
- Save the ZIP where you can identify it later. Keeping the original archive makes it easier to rebuild the server if the directory becomes damaged.
2. Create a clean server directory
Make a dedicated folder such as CreatePerfectWorld2Server on the computer that will stay online. Avoid placing the files inside a player’s ordinary Minecraft instance folder. A separate directory keeps the world, configuration, logs and server-side mods together and simplifies backups.
Unzip the entire server archive into that folder. Preserve the folders and files supplied by the pack; do not flatten nested directories or selectively copy only the JAR files. The pack’s startup script is built around that included structure.
3. Run the supplied start file
- Open the unpacked directory and locate the start or launch file supplied by the server pack. Use the Windows batch file on Windows or the corresponding shell script on another operating system.
- Run it from the server directory so relative paths resolve correctly. The first launch normally generates the remaining server files and displays the setup prompts described by the pack.
- Accept Minecraft’s EULA when the startup process requests it, then run the start file again if the script stops after generating the EULA or configuration files.
- Wait for the console to report that the server has finished loading before attempting a connection. The first start can take longer while Forge and the mods create data.
Do not close the console by killing the process during normal operation. Use the server’s stop command or the method documented by the included script so the world save is flushed before maintenance.
4. Make the initial server configuration
Stop the server cleanly after its first successful start, then edit server.properties in the server directory. Set the options that matter to your group, such as difficulty and whether a whitelist is enabled. A whitelist is useful for a private world because only named Minecraft accounts can join after you add them.

Change one setting at a time and retain a copy of the original file. Pack updates can add or alter defaults, so avoid replacing the entire configuration with a file from an unrelated Minecraft server.
5. Install the matching client profile
- Have every player install the Create: Perfect World 2 client profile for Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge.
- Make sure the selected client release corresponds to the server pack’s release. If you use the 0.5 server archive, players should select the matching 0.5 client profile rather than an older or newer revision.
- Do not add random client or server mods while diagnosing a connection problem. First reproduce the issue with the unmodified matching profile.
CurseForge warns that client-only mods copied into the server’s mods folder can stop the server from working. The safest baseline is the contents of the supplied server pack; add nothing until the dedicated server starts cleanly.
6. Test from the host and local network
On the host computer, connect to the server using the local address shown by your operating system or the address expected by the launcher. A second computer on the same home network is a useful test: it separates Minecraft and Forge problems from router and internet problems. If local players cannot join, keep troubleshooting the installation before changing port-forwarding rules.
7. Expose the server to friends outside your home
- Give the host computer a consistent private LAN address, either by reserving it in the router or configuring a stable address using your network’s normal method.
- In the router’s port-forwarding page, create a rule for Minecraft’s usual port, 25565, pointing to that private address. Use the protocol required by the router’s Minecraft rule; many routers label the choice TCP/UDP.
- Allow the Java runtime or server process through the host computer’s firewall on the same network profile used by the server.
- Have a friend outside your home network try the public address and port. Do not use the host’s private 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x address for an internet friend.
Port forwarding is the normal way to make a local dedicated server visible worldwide, but it cannot overcome carrier-grade NAT. If local players connect and outside players consistently time out, check the firewall and forwarding target first, then ask the internet provider whether the connection uses CGNAT or supplies a reachable public IPv4 address. A managed host or a provider-supported tunneling solution may be necessary when inbound connections are unavailable.

8. Add the players and protect the world
If you enabled the whitelist, add each player through the server console using the account name expected by your Minecraft installation, then ask that player to reconnect. Keep operator privileges limited to people you trust. Back up the world directory while the server is stopped, store at least one copy outside the live server folder, and make another backup before changing the pack or Forge version.

When the matching server pack is supported, CurseForge Servers offers the most direct managed route. Its support documentation says the service can deploy a modpack server without manual file uploads or home-router port forwarding. The service is powered by Shockbyte and billed through Tebex; plan prices and supported packs can change. The support page reported approximately 9,000 supported modpacks when it was updated on September 8, 2026.
- Open Minecraft in the CurseForge app and choose Servers.
- Select Host A Server.
- Choose Create: Perfect World 2 and select the matching server-pack filename, not a similarly named client release.
- Choose the available plan and server region, then enter the server name and other requested details.
- Complete the purchase. The resulting server card provides the address and management controls.
- Share the server’s direct link or import code so friends can install the matching profile, then give them the address shown by the server card.
If the pack does not appear, first check the exact server-pack filename and release. A provider can list a client profile without listing its server pack. Do not substitute a different Create pack or a different 1.20.1 revision; ask the host whether it supports the exact server archive or whether its file manager accepts that ZIP.
Modrinth Hosting as an alternative
Modrinth Hosting advertises Java Forge support, SFTP access and region selection. Its published USD tiers are $10 per month for one to five friends, $15 per month for six to 15 players, and $20 per month for 15 to 25 players. Those are advertised plan levels, not a performance guarantee for this modpack.
The available information does not establish that Create: Perfect World 2 is currently offered as a one-click Modrinth pack. Verify pack availability, the accepted server ZIP and the provider’s memory and backup terms before paying. If the exact pack is unavailable, use the documented CurseForge server-pack workflow or self-host instead of trying to assemble a server from the client files.
Troubleshoot by symptom

Safe updates, backups and everyday operation
Back up before every change
Stop the server cleanly, copy the world save and retain the relevant configuration before updating Forge, the modpack or individual mods. Keep dated backups in a different location from the live directory. A backup made while files are actively being written may be incomplete, so schedule it during a stopped state or use the backup mechanism supplied by a managed host.

Keep the server and clients aligned
Do not update only the server or only one player’s profile. Pick a target pack release, install it on the server and all clients, and test with a backup world first. If one player cannot join after an update, compare the complete profile version and mod list rather than replacing individual files at random.
Plan for uptime
A self-hosted world exists only while the host computer and connection are available. Disable sleep on the host during scheduled play, monitor free storage and leave enough upload capacity for several simultaneous players. A managed plan is preferable when friends expect a persistent world while the owner’s home computer is off.
Which hosting method should you use?
- Choose self-hosting when the group is small, the host computer can stay online, someone can configure a router and firewall, and full file control matters.
- Choose CurseForge Servers when the exact Create: Perfect World 2 server pack appears in the app and you want a guided deployment without manual uploads or port forwarding.
- Evaluate Modrinth Hosting when its Forge service and region fit your group, but verify that this exact pack and server archive are accepted before subscribing.
Regardless of the platform, the non-negotiable compatibility rule is the same: Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge and the same Create: Perfect World 2 release must be installed on both ends. The dedicated SERVER ZIP is the foundation for a working installation; the client ZIP belongs in players’ launchers.
