To create a digital product in Canva, first decide whether customers should edit it (a template) or use it as delivered (such as an e-book). Then make an original design, choose Canva content that fits the product and delivery method, and check both Canva’s license and the terms of the platform where you plan to sell it.
How do I create digital products in Canva?
- Choose the product and buyer outcome. Decide what the customer receives and what they should do with it. Canva discusses editable templates, e-books, online magazines, and newsletters as examples of products. A template has a predetermined layout and style for further editing; an e-book is a finished publication. Canva’s sale guidance explains these categories.
- Plan the content around that use. For a template, make the layout easy for a buyer to customize. For a publication, organize the material so it works as a complete product without requiring the customer to edit the design.
- Create an original design. Combine Canva content with your own creative choices and design work. Canva says a library element with only a filter, crop, resize, color change, outline, or simple border is not sufficiently transformed into an original product for sale. - Check the content and delivery rules. Free and Pro content can be used in permitted original products, but Canva library content must not be redistributed as standalone files. The rules differ for editable templates and finished publications.
- Prepare the customer’s delivery. Choose a Canva template link or a publication file according to the product type and the content it contains. Make the listing clear about what the buyer receives and whether editing requires Canva.
- Review all applicable terms before listing. Canva’s license governs its content, while a marketplace, printer, or other service may impose additional conditions. Read the terms that apply to your sales channel and location.
Can I sell Canva templates?
Yes, Canva’s help guidance permits selling original templates, but the allowed delivery format depends on the content used. Canva describes templates as designs intended for further editing, so the buyer’s ability to customize is part of the product—not merely a different way to package a finished e-book.

Canva’s Help Center puts the distinction plainly: “An e-book is not a template because it’s a finished product that doesn’t require further editing by the end-user in order to use it.” Use Canva to design digital and physical products for sale.

What Canva content can I include in a product?
Use library content as part of an original design
Canva says Free and Pro content may be used in allowed original products, subject to its license and the specific product rules. That does not mean you can extract or resell an element from Canva’s library as a standalone file. Add meaningful creative work and make the product itself the value—not access to a library image or illustration.

Do not sell Canva elements as digital clipart
A clipart pack made from Canva Free or Pro elements for customers to use in other applications is not permitted under Canva’s sale guidance. Canva says creators who want to sell stock content need to create it from scratch. Read Canva’s guidance on digital clipart and products for sale.
How do Pro Content rules affect e-books?
Canva permits original digital publications such as e-books, online magazines, and newsletters. For Pro Content in an electronic publication, Canva says the publication must be designed in Canva. If an item of Pro Content appears unedited—for example, a photo by itself on a page—the maximum size is 480,000 pixels per item. Canva gives a 600 × 800 pixel image as an example. The figure is a per-item limit in Canva’s guidance; the page does not state a publication year. Check Canva’s current electronic-publication rules.

What should I check before selling or printing?
- Canva’s current license: Check the applicable terms for the content and product you are making. Canva’s licensing overview and Content License Agreement explain permitted uses; terms can change.
- Marketplace rules: The platform where you list or deliver a product may set requirements beyond Canva’s content license.
- Print-provider requirements: If you use print-on-demand, check whether the provider requires you to own copyright in uploaded artwork. Canva content is licensed, not owned by the designer, and a provider’s terms are separate from Canva’s. Canva’s sale guidance.
- Canva Creators: Canva’s licensing overview points template designers to Canva Creators as an option to investigate. Confirm current enrollment, eligibility, and terms directly with Canva before relying on it.
Canva’s official guidance does not establish which product format sells best or provide a sales-success rate. Choose a format based on the buyer’s intended use and make the listing accurate about editing, file delivery, and any Canva access required.
