On a Samsung tablet, an app folder groups app icons on the Home or Apps screen; a file folder stores documents, photos, or downloads in My Files. Use the method that matches what you want to organize.

Create a folder for apps
- Go to the Home screen. If the app you want is not there, open the Apps screen; on supported layouts, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
- Touch and hold an app icon, drag it onto another app icon, and release. Samsung Gulf’s tablet guidance describes this drag-and-drop method for creating a folder.
- Tap the folder name field, enter a name, and tap Done on the keyboard if that control appears.
- Add more apps by dragging their icons into the folder. On some interfaces, you can instead open the folder, tap its Add or plus control, and select apps.
Some Galaxy devices also offer a selection-based option: touch and hold an app, choose Select, select apps, and tap Create folder. The option is not available on every tablet, so use it only if those controls appear. Folder color controls may also be available on some interfaces.

Create a folder for files in My Files
- Open My Files.
- Open the location where the folder should live, such as Internal Storage.
- Tap More options, shown as three dots, and select Create folder or Create new folder.
- Enter a name and tap Create or OK, depending on the screen.
Move or copy files into the folder
- In My Files, find the file or files you want to organize and touch and hold a file to select it. Select any additional files you want to include.
- Choose Move to relocate the selected files or Copy to leave the originals where they are.
- Navigate to the new folder and confirm with the option shown, such as Move here, Copy here, or Paste.
Optional: add a My Files folder shortcut to Home
Samsung Australia documents a shortcut option for Australian-variant Galaxy devices: in the storage location, touch and hold the folder, choose More, tap Add to Home screen, then tap Add. This creates a Home-screen shortcut to the storage folder; it is not an app folder and does not move the folder itself to the Home screen.

If the options look different
Samsung notes that file-management paths and labels can vary by device model, software, or app version. If a menu item in these steps is missing, check that you are in the intended screen or storage location and look for the equivalent wording, such as Create folder versus Create new folder. For app folders, try the drag-one-icon-onto-another method if a selection-based creation control is not present.
