A Search Engine Journal report published October 15, 2026 says the developer’s tests produced PageSpeed Insights scores of 100 on several EmDash page types, while Coywolf attributes cached response times of 60–90 milliseconds compared with 1–2 seconds without the optimization. Those speed figures are claims documented in that report, not an independent multi-site benchmark.
The plugin is designed so an EmDash publisher can enable only the modules needed rather than install separate extensions for every task. Its practical value therefore depends on whether you need its migration, video, discovery, or performance features—not just on the headline speed claim.

What Coywolf Pack adds to EmDash
Coywolf Pack was created by Jon Henshaw, whom the report describes as an SEO specialist with more than 30 years of experience. It identifies him as Yahoo’s Director of Audience Management and cites earlier SEO leadership roles at CNET, Vimeo, Paramount+, Pluto TV, and Showtime.
| Area | Capabilities reported for Coywolf Pack |
|---|---|
| Publishing and management | Backups and recovery, secure storage for files submitted through forms, tracked file downloads, and additional blocks for notices, disclosures, quotes, testimonials, and podcast links. |
| SEO and discovery | Google News sitemap, IndexNow notifications, LLMs.txt, Markdown article output, crawler controls, metadata generation, structured data, and link and redirect management. |
| Video | Cloudflare Stream hosting and management, engagement tracking, captions, automatic VideoObject structured data, and a video XML sitemap. |
| Performance | Page caching, selective invalidation, cache warming, optimized image delivery, faster search indexing, early redirect handling, fewer database round trips, and server-side rendering. |
Because the plugin is modular, a site focused on publishing may use only management and SEO functions, while a video-heavy publication can add Stream integration and video discovery features without adopting every component.
How the performance system works
The report describes eight related mechanisms rather than one single speed switch:
- Long-lived page cache: Cached pages can remain available for days. Coywolf says the cache is invalidated automatically after deployments and relevant settings changes.
- Selective cache clearing: The system can clear affected content without flushing the entire site, preserving useful cached responses elsewhere.
- Cache warming: After deployments, cache clears, and content edits, pages are preloaded so the first visitor does not necessarily pay the full uncached rendering cost.
- Cloudflare image delivery: Images are delivered through Cloudflare infrastructure with responsive sizing, long cache lifetimes, and dimensions written into HTML to help prevent cumulative layout shift.
- Browser-based title indexing: Search uses a browser-side index and cached results to reduce the work required for live queries.
- Early redirect processing: Redirects are handled before EmDash renders a page, and responses can be cached.
- Reduced database work: The plugin reduces D1 round trips, caches settings, and reuses queries.
- Server-side rendering: Tables of contents, breadcrumbs, reviews, and structured data are rendered on the server, reducing the amount of client-side JavaScript required.
In the cited test, the report’s author checked the home page, inner pages, a video category page, and a page containing a video; each reached a PageSpeed Insights score of 100. Coywolf is also reported as saying cached responses take 60–90 milliseconds instead of 1–2 seconds. The article does not establish test dates beyond its October 15, 2026 publication, device or network conditions, uncached timings, traffic volume, or results from multiple independent sites, so these numbers should be treated as indicative rather than a universal guarantee.

SEO and discovery features
Discovery module
The Discovery module targets search engines and newer content-processing systems. It creates a Google News sitemap, sends IndexNow notifications when content is published, updated, or removed, exposes an LLMs.txt file, and generates Markdown versions of articles for easier machine processing.
Broader technical SEO controls
Outside Discovery, Coywolf Pack adds crawler controls, metadata generation, structured data, and tools for managing links and redirects. These functions are particularly relevant when an EmDash site is replacing a platform whose redirect rules, metadata, or schema would otherwise have to be rebuilt manually.
Rank #3
EmDash video with Cloudflare Stream
Coywolf Pack extends EmDash’s video workflow by connecting it with Cloudflare Stream for hosting and management. Reported additions include captions, video engagement tracking, automatic VideoObject structured data, and a video XML sitemap. Together, those features address both the delivery and discoverability sides of a video library: Stream handles the hosting layer, while EmDash can expose structured metadata and a dedicated sitemap to crawlers.
The report does not state Stream storage, delivery, or usage pricing, nor does it document limits for captions or engagement reporting. Publishers should verify those terms separately before moving a large archive.

What the WordPress importer preserves
The migration tool is intended to retain details that basic content imports often lose. It reportedly preserves:
- Heading IDs, which help keep fragment links working.
- Existing redirects created with Yoast, Rank Math, or Redirection.
- Legacy media URLs and resized image variants.
- Category relationships and page parent-child hierarchy.
- Multiple-author and guest-author assignments.
- Selected reusable blocks, quotation blocks, and Details blocks.
- Author data from Co-Authors Plus, PublishPress Authors, and Coywolf Guest Author.
That preservation scope matters most for an established WordPress publication with years of inbound links, layered navigation, image references, or shared bylines. A small site with little legacy content may gain less from the importer than a large migration project.

How to decide whether it fits your site
Before enabling modules, make an inventory of the problems you actually need to solve:
- Migration risk: List critical URLs, redirect rules, media paths, parent pages, reusable blocks, and author assignments. Confirm that each category is represented in your export before switching platforms.
- Discovery needs: Decide whether Google News, IndexNow, Markdown output, or LLMs.txt is relevant to your publishing workflow. These tools complement—not replace—accurate titles, canonical URLs, internal links, and editorial quality.
- Video requirements: Count videos, estimate caption and engagement needs, and verify Cloudflare Stream terms for your audience and archive size.
- Performance baseline: Record representative mobile and desktop PageSpeed results, server response times, cache-hit behavior, and search latency before activation. Re-test the same URLs after each module is enabled.
- Recovery plan: Keep an export and a tested rollback path. A cache or redirect change can make a site appear faster while masking a routing or freshness problem.
Is Coywolf Pack free?
The October 15, 2026 report describes Coywolf Pack as free. It does not provide a paid-tier schedule, service-level terms, official public documentation, or independent benchmark data. “Free” therefore describes the plugin’s reported availability, not the total operating cost of any services it connects to, such as video hosting or infrastructure.
How strong is the speed evidence?
The strongest documented evidence is a single industry report that records the author’s own PageSpeed testing on several page types and repeats Coywolf’s cached-latency comparison. A score of 100 on those URLs indicates that the tested pages satisfied PageSpeed Insights scoring criteria at the time of testing; it does not prove every EmDash installation will achieve the same result. Theme complexity, third-party scripts, database size, media choices, geographic distance, and cache state can all change real-world performance.
