In a May 2025 review, CGMagazine’s Kurston Timothy found the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset light, with strong audio and long battery life—qualities that suited a headset worn through much of a workday. The main reservation was personal: after a few days, its firm earcups did not feel comfortable enough for the reviewer. That makes the G522 a promising everyday headset in this account, but not an unqualified comfort pick.
What made the G522 a daily-driver candidate?
Timothy approached the G522 as someone who works from home and wears a headset for six to eight hours of the day. The review focused on the practical combination that matters in that setting: comfort, audio quality and wireless use without constantly worrying about the battery. The author had been considering replacing a Logitech G935 used as a daily driver for two years, so the G522 was judged against an established routine rather than just a brief gaming session.

CGMagazine reported a weight of 290 g and described the headset as lightweight and breathable. The reviewer also praised its audio quality and battery life. These are the impressions and figures in that 2025 review, not results from independent testing for this article. Read the CGMagazine G522 review.
How long does the battery last, according to the review?
CGMagazine reported up to 40 hours with LIGHTSYNC lighting on and up to 50 hours with lighting off. Those are review figures, not a guarantee of runtime under every volume level, connection mode or usage pattern. The extra reported runtime with lighting disabled may matter to someone who prioritizes fewer charging breaks over the headset’s lighting effects.

What connection options does it offer?
The review describes three ways to connect: LIGHTSPEED wireless, Bluetooth and USB-C wired. Timothy found Bluetooth useful with a work laptop that had limited ports. That flexibility lets the headset serve a work setup as well as gaming, although the review does not establish compatibility details for every device or platform.
What did the reviewer dislike about the fit?
The main drawback was the earcups: Timothy found them too firm and potentially uncomfortable for their preference, even while describing the headset as light and breathable. This was a personal impression after a few days of use, not evidence of a general defect or a long-term comfort assessment. If fit is the deciding factor, the review’s positive comments about weight do not erase that specific reservation.

How does it compare with the Astro A20 X?
The Logitech G Astro A20 X is a separate headset, not another name for the G522. It is worth considering mainly for someone who switches between gaming systems: Dot Esports’ January 2026 review highlights PLAYSYNC, which switches between two connected gaming systems, alongside Bluetooth support. The G522 review, by contrast, emphasizes LIGHTSPEED, Bluetooth and USB-C wired connections, plus the author’s work-laptop use.

- Be cautious if soft earcup pressure is essential: the reviewer’s principal comfort complaint was firmness.
- Look at the A20 X as a distinct alternative if switching between two gaming systems is a requirement rather than a nice-to-have.
