Crimson Desert does not currently have official co-op. An October 2026 test by a community modder showed two players moving and fighting in a connected session, but it was an unfinished, unavailable prototype—not a public mod or evidence that Pearl Abyss plans to add multiplayer.
Does Crimson Desert have co-op or multiplayer?
No. The released game is a single-player action-adventure. Pearl Abyss has not announced an official co-op mode or confirmed a plan to add one in the sources checked as of October 7, 2026. The existence of an unofficial mod prototype does not change the game’s official status.

Pearl Abyss announced Crimson Desert’s worldwide launch for March 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Apple Mac, Epic Games Store, and ROG Xbox Ally. The publisher describes it as an open-world action-adventure featuring exploration, combat, and boss encounters. Pearl Abyss’s launch announcement does not announce co-op.
What did the unofficial co-op test demonstrate?
In an early test shared by modder u/No-Context2224, two players connected through Steam without port forwarding. They could see one another move, run, jump, glide, climb walls, and pull onto ledges. Attack and skill animations and effects, along with equipment changes, were also visible across the connection. The modder said shared enemy damage was experimental. The modder’s Reddit post describes the test and its limitations.

That is evidence of some synchronized player visuals—not a shared co-op campaign. Each player still had a separate game world, so enemies did not necessarily appear in the same places. Quests, loot, and inventories were separate, while horses and interactions such as pulling trees or grabbing chickens did not synchronize for both players. Notebookcheck reported that the demonstration was a roughly 45-second video and that the worlds remained separate. Notebookcheck’s October 6 report also noted that there was no download or release date at the time.
Is the co-op mod available to download?
No. The modder called it an early work in progress and said it was not available yet: “It’s still early and very much a work in progress, so it’s not available yet. I’ll post updates as it improves.” That statement comes from the modder, not Pearl Abyss. No download date, supported game version, or installation requirements were established in the available updates, so there is no reliable installation guide to follow yet.

What would need to improve for this to become co-op?
Seeing another character and their attack effects is only one part of multiplayer. A usable co-op mode also needs the players’ game state to agree. The test leaves several separate engineering questions open:

- Progress and rewards: quests, loot, and inventories remained separate.
- Mounts and world interactions: horses and some interactions with the environment were not synchronized.
- Availability and support: the prototype was not publicly downloadable, and it was not an officially supported Pearl Abyss feature.
Until those limits change, the test should be understood as a promising technical experiment in connecting players, not proof that friends can complete the same campaign together.
