The PACE 2 remains a reasonable choice if its Standard GPS mode meets your needs: the official specifications here do not establish that every PACE 2 owner needs to upgrade.

How do the GPS modes differ?
PACE 2: Standard GPS
COROS lists Standard GPS for the PACE 2. It is the battery-first option and, according to COROS, performs reliably with clear sky visibility and strong reception. Accuracy can fall when the signal is obstructed by trees, tall buildings, or canyons. COROS’s GPS mode guide recommends Standard GPS when preserving battery is the priority.

The PACE 3 adds All Systems On and Dual Frequency. COROS describes All Systems On as its recommended mode for most scenarios; it uses GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS. Dual Frequency is the most accurate satellite mode COROS offers, and the company says it can help where signals are difficult to acquire or maintain, such as dense urban areas, deep canyons, or heavy forest. It uses meaningfully more power.
#1 Best Overall
- Comfort, Lightweight, Durable: Designed as the ultimate running watch, the COROS PACE 3 GPS sports watch merges an 11.7mm ultra-slim profile and 30g featherweight design (with nylon band) for 24/7 wear in completely distraction-free comfort.
- Always-On 1.2" Transflective Touchscreen: COROS PACE 3 GPS sports watch features a touchscreen experience (Backlight Display settings include three modes: Always On, Navigation & Activity, or Navigation Only)
- Extended Battery Life: Transform your training with a GPS running watch built for endurance and speed. 38 hours of continuous GPS tracking or 24 days of daily use on a single charge.
- Accurate GPS with Dual-Frequency: Built with a redesigned Dual-Frequency satellite chipset, the PACE 3 GPS Sport Watch will keep your GPS tracks and GPS coordinates accurate, even in high-rise cities. It also records air pressure and elevation gain.
- ROUTE PLANNER: Easily build custom routes or search for a destination on the COROS App, then sync the navigation directly to your COROS PACE 3 GPS Sport Watch. The Breadcrumb navigation feature helps you stay on track without losing sight of your other activity data.
The estimated GPS runtimes show why mode choice matters: COROS lists 38 hours for PACE 3 Standard GPS, 25 hours for All Systems On, and 15 hours for Dual Frequency. The PACE 2’s 27-hour estimate is for Standard GPS, so it is not an equivalent-mode comparison with the PACE 3’s more demanding options.
How much longer does the PACE 3 battery last?
Under COROS’s estimates, PACE 3 gains 11 hours of Standard GPS activity time over PACE 2, or about 41% relative to the PACE 2’s 27-hour estimate. In daily use, its estimate is three days longer with sleep tracking and four days longer with sleep tracking plus daily stress.
Rank #2
- Ultralight & Ultra-Thin Design: Weighing only 32g with the nylon band and just 11.8mm thin, COROS PACE 4 GPS watch is lighter than an energy gel and comfortable enough for 24/7 wear, ensuring it never slows you down.
- EASY ON THE EYES: The 1.2"touchscreen AMOLED display keeps colors vibrant and lines sharp, with auto-adjusting brightness that ensures the screen is easy to read in all environments. More detailed display 164% higher resolution compared to COROS PACE 3.
- BIG BATTERY LIFE: Train longer without interruption. With 41 hours of continuous GPS use and up to 19 days of daily battery life, ensure your training isn’t tied to a charger.
- NEW WAY TO TRAIN with VOICE features:Using PACE 4's voice recording tool, about where you were, what you saw, and how you felt during your workouts and capture training logs at the completion of your activity. Use Voice Control to set an alarm for tomorrow morning, create a target workout and more.
- EFFORTLESS CONTROL: A combination of a tactile digital crown, two easy to reach buttons, and a smooth touchscreen offers intuitive control even at high intensity. Customize the Action Button for one-tap access to key features like media controls, breadcrumb navigation, or to record Voice Pins.
Those are manufacturer estimates, not a promise of real-world runtime. COROS says battery consumption can rise with backlight use, navigation, weak or lost satellite signal, external accessories, and settings. Usage patterns matter, and lithium-ion batteries can degrade over time. Frequent Dual Frequency use also means the PACE 3’s GPS runtime may be much lower than its Standard GPS figure.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDoes the PACE 3 have maps or route guidance?
COROS promotes route guidance for the PACE 3, and its comparison material describes the feature as breadcrumb navigation. That supports choosing it if you want a route to follow on the watch, but it does not establish full offline maps. The cited PACE 2 material does not establish an equivalent route-guidance feature.

Is the PACE 3 worth upgrading to from a working PACE 2?
Choose the PACE 3 if…
- You run or train in places where buildings, forests, or canyons make satellite reception difficult and want the option of Dual Frequency.
- You want route or breadcrumb guidance on the watch.
- You value the PACE 3’s higher Standard GPS and daily-use battery estimates, while recognizing actual results vary.
Keep the PACE 2 if…
- Standard GPS works for your usual routes and its battery life covers your activities.
- You do not need route guidance or additional satellite modes.
- Your watch is working well and you would upgrade only for a proven improvement in accuracy or overall performance.
The available official material supports a feature and specification comparison, not an independent side-by-side verdict on GPS accuracy, optical heart-rate accuracy, durability, or real-world battery life. It therefore does not justify a blanket claim that the PACE 3 is more accurate overall. Whether a new purchase is better value also depends on current price and stock, which are not established here.
Training apps and connected services
COROS describes the PACE 3 training ecosystem as including free COROS training solutions and sync options for Strava, Nike Run Club, Apple Health, and Health Connect. This is the manufacturer’s feature description, not an independent assessment of those services or a complete comparison of the two watches’ software.
