To create a dotted or dashed line in CorelDRAW, select the line or outlined object and choose a line style in the Outline controls. To smooth a jagged object edge, use the separate Smooth tool. These operations affect different things: line-style settings change the pattern and appearance of the stroke, while Smooth edits the object’s edge.
The steps below follow Corel’s documented Windows workflow. The help pages do not specify a particular release, so labels and paths may differ by version or platform.

How to apply a dashed line style

Select the open line or the closed shape whose outline you want to change.

Open Window > Dockers > Properties, then expand Outline. CorelDRAW also provides outline settings through the Outline pen dialog and the property bar. Choose a style from the Style box and set the outline width. The presets include solid and dashed styles. CorelDRAW Help: Format lines and outlines.

Changing the style changes the stroke pattern; changing the width changes its thickness. If a preset does not give you the spacing or frequency you want, edit or create a line style.
How to create or adjust a dotted pattern

With the line or outlined object selected, open the Outline settings and click Settings to open the line-style editor.

Move the slider to adjust the pattern. Use the boxes to the slider’s left to set dot placement and frequency.

Click Add to save the pattern as a new style. To revise a style already in the list, select it, click Settings, adjust the pattern, and click Replace.
Use Add when you want to retain the original style and save a separate variation; use Replace when you intend to change the selected existing style. CorelDRAW Help: Format lines and outlines.
Refine line ends, corners, and dash placement
After choosing a pattern, adjust its appearance in the outline controls. These settings deal with how the stroke is drawn at open ends and path turns, rather than smoothing the underlying object.

Line caps: Choose round caps for rounded open-path ends. Other cap styles produce different endpoint shapes.

Corner style: Choose round corners when you want rounded turns in the outline; mitered or beveled corners give different results.

Dash distribution: Default distributes dashes without adjustment. Align removes empty space at endpoints and corners by aligning dashes to them. Fixed keeps dash lengths fixed in those areas.
Pick the distribution setting based on what matters in the design: Default avoids endpoint or corner adjustment, Align fills otherwise empty space at those locations, and Fixed preserves dash length there. CorelDRAW Help: Format lines and outlines.

CorelDRAW’s Smooth tool reduces jagged edges and nodes on curved objects. It edits the selected object’s edge; it is not a control for rounding individual dash marks.

Select the object with the Pick tool.

Choose Smooth from the toolbox.

Drag the tool along the edge you want to smooth.

Adjust Nib size and Rate on the property bar to control the area and strength of the effect. If using a digital pen, you can optionally use pen pressure to control smoothing.
For a dashed line whose individual marks or turns look too sharp, change cap, corner, or dash-distribution settings instead of dragging the Smooth tool over it. CorelDRAW Help: Smooth objects.
