Use your browser’s Print command and choose its PDF destination—Save as PDF in Chrome—then open the saved file and inspect the Hindi text. A successful save does not guarantee that Devanagari characters rendered correctly. If you see boxes, missing text, or changed glyphs, compare the page and PDF, try another browser’s PDF destination, and consider Acrobat’s webpage-conversion settings for more control.
Save the Hindi article as a PDF from your browser
- Open the news article and wait until its visible text has finished rendering.
- Open the browser’s Print dialog. In Chrome, select Save as PDF as the destination. Google documents Chrome’s PDF workflow and lists Save as PDF as a print destination, but does not promise identical results across websites, browsers, operating systems, or fonts: Chrome PDF help and Chrome print settings.
- Save the file, open it in a PDF viewer, and inspect both headings and body text. Look for boxes, missing characters, or visibly changed Devanagari glyphs.
Do not assume the text is correct just because the PDF was created. This check concerns how the text looks; saving a page alone does not establish that the PDF is searchable or accessible.

What to try if Hindi characters are broken
First compare the article in the browser with the saved PDF. If the article itself shows broken text, the problem is already present on screen; if only the PDF is faulty, the problem appears during or after conversion. This comparison narrows down where to seek help, but does not identify a universal cause.

- If you selected a system print driver rather than the browser’s own PDF destination, retry with the browser’s PDF option.
- Save the page from a second browser and inspect that PDF too. Treat this as a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed fix. A historical Mozilla Support report describes a Firefox Save as PDF issue involving certain Unicode characters; it is one support case, not evidence of a current, universal Firefox defect: Mozilla Support discussion.
- If the output still fails, record the browser and version, operating system, article URL, and whether the breakage appears on screen, only in the PDF, or in both. Those details can help when contacting browser or site support.
Use Acrobat when you need more conversion controls
Adobe documents webpage-to-PDF settings that include Default Encoding and Language Specific Font Settings. To reach them, Adobe’s instruction is: “To change web page conversion settings from Acrobat, go to All tools > Create a PDF > Web page, then select Advanced settings to customize conversion and layout options.” See Adobe Acrobat’s webpage-to-PDF instructions. These controls provide another route to try; Adobe does not promise that they will correct every site’s Hindi rendering. Open and visually check the resulting file.
