Start with the exact game, PC client, and controller model you use: controller compatibility and settings menus vary by title and can change with updates. Check that game’s current official support page or patch notes before changing settings or buying a controller. Then adjust input, graphics, and accessibility options separately to suit your hardware and needs.
Check controller compatibility for your specific game
A controller that works in one PC gacha RPG is not automatically supported in another. Compare your model with the game’s official compatibility information, and check whether support applies to your platform and connection type. HoYoverse’s support article, updated October 8, 2025, lists DualSense, DualSense Edge, DualShock 4, Xbox, and Xbox Elite wireless controllers for the game it covers, and cautions that unlisted controllers may not work correctly: HoYoverse controller and platform support.

Wuthering Waves publishes a separate PC list: Xbox Series and Xbox Elite Series controllers, DualSense, DualSense Edge, and wired DualShock 4. Kuro Games recommends XInput mode for other PC controllers that support multiple input modes. Check the game’s current notice for details: Wuthering Waves Version 3.0 Update Maintenance Notice.
When choosing a controller, use the list for the particular game you intend to play. A model named in one game’s support information is not thereby confirmed for another.

Set up controller input, switching, and button assignments
Switch between controller and keyboard and mouse
Some games let you change input mode in their settings; others change prompts or controls based on the device in use. In Zenless Zone Zero, the documented path for switching input when both a controller and keyboard and mouse are connected is Options > Input > UI Layout. The game’s release FAQ also describes quick switching on some screens, including Login, City, and combat: Zenless Zone Zero Official Release FAQ.
After switching, check which button prompts appear and whether the game has actually changed the active input layout. Controller prompts and keyboard-and-mouse bindings are different things; seeing one set of prompts does not confirm that every assignment is remappable.

Remap only what the game exposes
Look in the current controls or input menu for remapping options, then change assignments that are uncomfortable or difficult to reach. Genshin Impact’s Version 1.1 update notice documented customizable keyboard and controller assignments, but that historical notice is an example of what the game offered at that time, not a complete inventory of current settings: Genshin Impact Version 1.1 Update Notice. Check the current menu and update notes for the version you play.

There is no evidence-based universal preset for PC gacha RPGs: games expose different options, and the effect of a setting depends on the title and your hardware. Change one relevant option at a time, then see whether it improves the issue you noticed.

If performance or smoothness is the concern
Look for optional effects and scene-detail settings in the current graphics menu. Genshin Impact’s Version 1.1 notice, for example, listed volumetric fog, reflections, bloom, crowd density, and co-op teammate effects. Those are examples documented in that notice, not a promise that the same options—or the same labels—are present now or in other games. If an effect is optional and you suspect it is contributing to a performance problem, try changing it and compare the result in the same situation.
If clarity is the concern
Review the game’s display and graphics menus for options that affect how clearly you can see the scene, characters, or interface. The sources cited here do not establish a shared set of clarity controls or recommended values across games, so rely on the options actually shown in your title and version.

If you want upgraded visual effects
Some features have specific platform or hardware requirements. Zenless Zone Zero’s PC visual-experience FAQ, updated July 29, 2026, documents DX12 eligibility for its upgraded visual experience. That requirement concerns the named feature in that game; it does not mean every player needs a graphics-card upgrade for ordinary play. Accessibility controls are not interchangeable with graphics-quality settings, and the available options differ by game and version. Open the current accessibility and gameplay menus and check for the specific adjustment you need. Do not assume a feature is present because another game offers it; confirm its name and behavior in the title you play.

Recheck menus after game updates
Menu paths, controller support, and graphics features can change. If an instruction no longer matches what you see, use the game’s latest official help page, update notice, or PC FAQ rather than relying on an older menu list.
