Which abilities should you unlock first?
Choose abilities for the role you want them to play in a fight: direct damage, crowd control, defense, or tactical support. Remedy describes builds that range from close-range combat to more tactical play with summons, so the right first choice depends on how you want encounters to feel. The available developer material does not provide a ranked early-game ability list or comparative damage figures; treat this as a playstyle decision, not a proven tier list.

For an ability-led build, look for choices that help you control enemies and create openings to follow up. For a weapon-led build, select abilities that complement your approach rather than diverting resources into a role you rarely use. Confirm a specific ability’s name, prerequisite, cost, and availability in the current game before planning around it.

Remedy’s combat overview describes a linked sequence: melee hits restore Combat Ability resource, abilities can stun enemies and open them to executions, and executions temporarily boost melee damage. That makes the value of an upgrade depend on whether it strengthens a loop you actually use.

How to compare Aberrant upgrades, talents, and artifacts
Use the role and trade-off of each option to decide whether it belongs in your build. Aberrant has separate form upgrade trees, while talents support broader build choices. Exact node values should be checked in-game rather than assumed from a general guide.

Plan for first-run limits and New Game Plus
You cannot unlock everything in one playthrough. Remedy says New Game Plus carries over Aberrant upgrades, health and Combat Ability resource improvements, unlocked supernatural combat abilities, talents, and artifacts. It also adds talent nodes and lets players equip multiple different combat abilities from the same boss. Traversal abilities remain tied to story progression and do not carry over.

That makes a focused first-run build more sensible than spending as if every branch will be available at once. Use New Game Plus to experiment with additional nodes and combinations while keeping story-gated traversal separate from combat-build planning.

For later progression, Epic’s September 2026 guide reports that Command unlocks after the Unknown Resonant encounter and that Resonant Tokens can unlock an ability in the Gap; Ignite and Inferno are given as an example. This is late-game progression information, not a reason to prioritize those abilities early.
