What is CONTROL Resonant?
CONTROL Resonant is Remedy Entertainment’s sequel to Control. It follows Dylan Faden, Jesse Faden’s brother, as a supernatural crisis transforms Manhattan. The Hiss, the Mold, and other paranatural threats are part of the game’s premise. Remedy announced the worldwide digital release for September 24, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store; its launch-day notice confirms it is out now. Remedy’s launch notice quotes creative director Mikael Kasurinen: “CONTROL Resonant is out now.”

Mac via Steam and the App Store was announced for later in 2026, but Remedy’s cited announcement gives no exact Mac release date. The release announcement also confirms physical editions for PS5 and Xbox.

How does combat differ from Control?
Remedy and PlayStation describe the combat as built around Dylan’s supernatural abilities and the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee weapon. Its announced forms include a two-handed hammer and dual blades. That is the official design description, not a hands-on conclusion.

PC Gamer’s review frames the game as “Melee action in an open world being ripped apart by interdimensional forces.” The publication praises Remedy’s uncanny environments, bureaucratic lore details, and performances, while identifying melee combat as a weaker point. PC Gamer lists its review hardware as a GeForce RTX 4070 Super, Intel i7-14700K, and 32 GB DDR5. That criticism matters most if you are considering the game primarily for its combat; it should be weighed as one outlet’s assessment rather than treated as a universal verdict.

The same PlayStation listing describes adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and Tempest 3D AudioTech. If those features or the stated targets are a major reason for choosing PS5, check that your setup supports the relevant display and audio features.

Remedy announced physical editions for PS5 and Xbox, but the cited announcement does not establish local stock, final package contents, or retailer pricing. Do not assume a boxed copy includes a complete game disc or particular bonuses without checking the package listing. Xbox’s listing identifies Xbox Play Anywhere, which may be useful if you also play on Xbox PC. Confirm the current listing and regional terms before relying on cross-device availability. Verdict: is CONTROL Resonant worth playing?
CONTROL Resonant is a strong candidate for players drawn to Remedy’s surreal worldbuilding and the prospect of a more melee-focused supernatural action game. The main caution is combat: PC Gamer praised the environments, lore details, and performances but found melee a weaker element. On PC, compare your system with Steam’s published requirements; on PlayStation, choose with the official mode targets and controller features in mind; on Xbox, consider Play Anywhere if it fits your setup. The available evidence supports a platform-specific buying decision, not a claim that one version performs best across all systems.
