Strain & Sons, Inc., adding two hot-mix asphalt plants, crews, equipment and more than 125 employees to its Texas operations. Announced October 5, 2026, the deal places the acquired operations under Lone Star Paving, Construction Partners’ Texas platform company. The financial terms were not disclosed in the reviewed announcement and coverage.

The acquisition covers J.H. Strain & Sons’ asphalt manufacturing and construction assets. Construction Partners said the package includes two hot-mix asphalt plants, along with related crews and equipment serving the greater Abilene area. The company also said more than 125 employees are joining Lone Star Paving.

The plants and associated workforce serve the greater Abilene area, with Construction Partners describing the intended customer reach as greater Abilene and West Texas. The release does not identify the plants’ individual addresses, so it does not establish that both facilities are located within Abilene itself.

How much did Construction Partners pay?
The purchase price was not disclosed in the reviewed company announcement or Investing.com coverage. No transaction value should be inferred from the number of plants, employees or other assets announced.
Why did Construction Partners make the acquisition?
CEO Fred J. (Jule) Smith III said the assets give Lone Star Paving a local presence from which to serve public and private infrastructure customers in the greater Abilene area and West Texas. He described Abilene as a growing market with a diversified economy and cited ongoing investment, including data-center-related developments. These are management’s stated reasons and market observations; the announcement does not quantify expected returns or establish future performance.
