Before pairing, check that your TV supports Bluetooth audio
A Bluetooth setting may be absent on TVs that do not support audio pairing. Check the manual or support page for your exact model, rather than relying on the fact that the TV has Bluetooth for a remote or other accessory. Compatibility can also vary by audio device; Samsung notes that some headphones designed only for mobile devices may not pair with its TVs. See the Samsung UK compatibility guidance.

How to pair Bluetooth headphones or a speaker with a TV
- Put the audio device in pairing mode. Use its controls and follow its own instructions. Simply turning it on may not make it discoverable.
- Open the TV’s Bluetooth or audio settings. Look for a device-pairing option, scan for available devices, and select your headphones, earbuds, or speaker when it appears.
- Choose Bluetooth as the sound output if needed. Pairing and audio output selection can be separate steps. If the TV still plays through its built-in speakers, open Sound Output or Sound Out and select the connected Bluetooth device.
- Reconnect a previously paired device when necessary. On Google TV, go to Settings > Remote and accessories, select the device, then choose Connect.
Menu paths vary by platform and model
These are examples from manufacturer guidance, not universal instructions. On Google TV, the pairing path is Settings > Remote and accessories > Pair remote or accessory. For Samsung TVs, the Australia support page lists this path for 2023–2026 models: Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List. The page is specific to Australia, and Samsung says menus vary by model. For LG TVs running webOS 26 or later, the listed path is Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Out > Bluetooth Devices > Connectable Devices. LG’s guide includes different instructions for other webOS versions. Consult the page for your region and model: Google TV, Samsung Australia, and LG USA.
Can two people listen at once?
Simultaneous listening depends on the TV. Google TV allows one audio device at a time. Samsung says some TVs manufactured from 2022 can output to two Bluetooth devices, and LG says two compatible headphones or earbuds can work together on supported models. These capabilities are model-specific, not a general Bluetooth feature. Check the exact TV’s support information before relying on multi-listener output. Samsung US and Samsung India provide additional model guidance.

What to do if the TV cannot find or connect to the device
- Confirm pairing mode. Make sure the headphones or speaker is discoverable, then scan again.
- Check for an automatic connection elsewhere. A device that has reconnected to a phone or tablet may no longer be available for the TV. Temporarily disconnect it from other sources.
- Bring the device closer and reduce interference. Move it nearer to the TV, temporarily disconnect unused accessories, and try again. Distance, obstacles, and interference can disrupt Bluetooth.
- Restart and retry. Restart the audio device. Google also recommends unplugging the TV for 10 seconds, reconnecting it, and trying again.
- Check both products. Verify that the audio device can pair with another source, check for TV software updates, and consult the TV or device maker if pairing still fails. LG lists pairing mode, output selection, interference, temporary errors, and hardware problems as possible causes.

What if the TV has no Bluetooth audio option?
Do not assume that a generic USB Bluetooth adapter will work. Samsung says its TVs do not support USB Bluetooth transmitter/receivers. Check the TV’s available outputs and manufacturer guidance before buying an external transmitter; compatibility depends on the exact TV and the transmitter’s input. If your TV has a headphone output, a wired connection may be an option. LG outlines device-connection options in its TV connection guide.

Account for audio delay and connection range
Bluetooth audio can have a lip-sync delay, and a connection may drop when the listening device is too far away. Samsung warns about both issues; obstacles and interference can also affect reliability. Do not assume a particular codec, headphone, or TV setting will solve lip-sync problems unless the manufacturers confirm compatibility for your equipment. Check your TV’s model-specific guidance if timing matters, particularly for dialogue-heavy viewing or gaming.
