To connect a Philips smart TV, first decide what you mean: connect the TV to Wi‑Fi, cast from a phone or computer, or attach a device with HDMI. The right steps depend on the TV’s model and platform. Find the model number and check its Philips support page or manual before relying on a menu path or buying an adapter.
Choose the connection you need
- Get the TV online: set up its wireless network connection.
- Show content from a phone, tablet, or computer: use Google TV casting or Miracast, if the TV and source device support the same method.
- Connect a laptop, PC, cable box, or satellite box: use a compatible HDMI connection and select the matching TV input.
These are separate tasks: connecting the TV to Wi‑Fi does not by itself connect a wired source, and casting support depends on the TV platform and source device.

How to connect a Philips TV to Wi‑Fi
Philips menu labels differ across models. One older-model WLAN guide uses this path: Home > Setup > Connect to network > Wireless > Scan. Select your network, enter its encryption key, and finish setup; Philips notes that connection can take several minutes. See Philips’ WLAN setup instructions.

Other models use a different network setup route. Consult Philips’ wireless home-network guidance and the instructions for your exact model rather than assuming this menu path applies to every Philips TV.

Check before buying a wireless adapter
A separate Philips article specifies a compatible wireless router and the Philips PTA01/00 Wireless USB adapter for the models it covers. This is a model-specific requirement, not a general accessory recommendation. Check the exact model and regional support page for compatibility and availability before buying legacy hardware: Philips’ adapter-dependent setup instructions.
How to cast to a Philips Google TV
- Connect the TV and the phone, tablet, or computer to the same Wi‑Fi network.
- Open a Chromecast-enabled app on the source device, or use Chrome on a computer.
- Choose the app’s Cast option or Chrome’s Cast option, then select the TV.
- To stop casting, disconnect from the casting device.
These steps are for Philips Google TV. Philips explains the process in its Google TV casting instructions. They should not be assumed to describe every Philips smart TV.

How to use Miracast on a Philips TV
Miracast is a different, model-specific wireless-screen option. Philips’ instructions require a Miracast-certified source device. Open Wireless Screencasting on the TV, then select the TV from the source device’s wireless display controls. If a compatible Windows device cannot find the TV, check that wireless display is enabled on the Windows device; see Philips’ Miracast troubleshooting guidance.
Philips says Apple does not support Miracast or Philips Wireless Screencasting, so this method is not a solution for an iPhone or Mac. Confirm that both the TV model and source device support Miracast before trying it. See Philips’ wireless casting instructions.

How to connect a laptop, PC, or set-top box with HDMI
Laptop or PC
- Check the computer and TV ports, then connect them using HDMI-to-HDMI if both have compatible HDMI ports. Philips also documents a DVI-I-to-HDMI option for certain listed older models.
- On the TV, select the source/input that matches the connected port.
- If the computer screen does not appear, use the computer’s display-output controls; some computers require you to toggle the output.
In Philips’ documented DVI-to-HDMI setup, a separate audio connection is needed. Check the ports, model instructions, and computer requirements before purchasing a cable or adapter. See Philips’ PC and laptop connection instructions.
Cable or satellite box
- Connect the set-top box to the TV with HDMI.
- Select the TV input corresponding to the HDMI port in use.
Refer to Philips’ set-top box instructions if you need model-specific guidance.

If the connection is not working
- The TV is not on Wi‑Fi: check that you selected the intended network and entered its encryption key, then follow the network path in your model’s manual.
- Google TV cannot find a casting device: confirm that both devices are on the same Wi‑Fi network and that the app supports casting or that you are casting from Chrome.
- Miracast cannot find the TV: verify Miracast support on both devices, open Wireless Screencasting on the TV, and enable wireless display on the source device.
- The TV shows no picture from a cable: select the input that matches the connected HDMI port and check that the cable and device ports are compatible.
For model-specific names and requirements, use the TV’s manual or Philips support page for its exact model. A Philips Android TV manual describes choosing connected devices through Inputs and notes that Chromecast casting requires the TV and casting device to share a Wi‑Fi network.
