How you connect a JBL wireless microphone depends on the microphone set and PartyBox model. A receiver-dongle set plugs into the speaker’s microphone input; some newer PartyBox models use microphones that pair directly. Identify both devices first—this is not one universal Bluetooth-pairing process.
Identify your microphone and PartyBox connection type
Look at the microphone packaging or product name, then check the exact PartyBox model and its manual. JBL describes two different setups:

- Wireless Microphone Set with a receiver dongle: the dongle plugs into a compatible speaker’s 6.3 mm microphone input. Follow the receiver steps below.
- A microphone supplied with or made for a specific PartyBox: it may pair directly with the speaker. Follow that model’s manual rather than looking for a receiver input.
Do not assume that a microphone made for one PartyBox generation will work with another. JBL says the older Wireless Microphone Set is not compatible with PartyBox Encore, which has no microphone input. The newer PartyBox Wireless Mic is a different product. Check JBL’s microphone compatibility guidance and your model’s manual before buying a replacement or additional set.

These steps apply to the JBL Wireless Microphone Set that includes a 6.3 mm jack receiver dongle, not to every PartyBox microphone. JBL’s connection instructions describe the following setup:

- Confirm that your PartyBox has a microphone input and is compatible with this microphone set.
- Insert the supplied 6.3 mm receiver dongle into the PartyBox microphone input.
- Turn on the dongle and the PartyBox. The dongle’s power light should stay lit. If it does not, charge the dongle with the supplied USB cable.
- Turn on one or both microphones. Their displays should show a channel, such as CH-1 or CH-2. The microphones connect automatically; JBL says you cannot select channels manually, and the displayed channel may change after a power cycle.
- Raise the PartyBox microphone volume and gain to a comfortable level.
Do not charge the dongle while using it: JBL warns that doing so is likely to cause unwanted interference. If a microphone display does not show a channel, JBL advises replacing the microphone batteries.
Pair a microphone directly with a PartyBox
Some PartyBox models include a microphone that is already paired. Others document a separate process for pairing a new microphone. Use the procedure for your exact model; these examples apply only to the named speakers.

PartyBox On-The-Go 2
The supplied microphone connects automatically when you turn on the speaker and microphone in sequence. To pair a new microphone, JBL’s On-The-Go 2 instructions say to turn off the speaker, turn on the new microphone and speaker, and keep them within one meter. Pairing should complete within three minutes. The manual also advises turning the microphone volume down before connecting or disconnecting it.
PartyBox Encore 2
The supplied microphone is factory-paired. For a new one, JBL’s Encore 2 pairing instructions say to turn the speaker off, then turn on the microphone and speaker with the devices within one meter. The microphone should connect automatically within three minutes.

Troubleshoot a JBL wireless microphone that will not connect
For a receiver-dongle set
- The receiver light goes out or will not stay on: charge the dongle with the supplied USB cable, then try again.
- The microphone display shows no channel: replace the microphone batteries, as JBL recommends.
- The microphone has a channel but you hear no sound: confirm the dongle is fully inserted in the microphone input, then raise the PartyBox microphone volume and gain.
- Interference begins while charging: disconnect the dongle from its charger during use.
For a directly paired microphone
For the On-The-Go 2 and Encore 2 procedures above, retry pairing with the speaker and microphone within one meter and allow up to three minutes. If the steps do not match your speaker or pairing still fails, check the manual for the exact PartyBox model; battery type and pairing instructions vary by generation.
When using two PartyBox speakers
A microphone connected to one PartyBox may play through that speaker only, even when the speakers are linked using TWS. JBL’s TWS microphone guidance suggests a wired audio connection between the speakers or a small mixer when you need microphone audio distributed to both.

Check specifications before replacing or adding a microphone
Verify the supported PartyBox model, whether the microphone pairs directly or needs a receiver, and whether the speaker has a microphone input. Also check the microphone generation, number of microphones supported, battery requirements, and whether you need a complete set or a model-specific replacement. Do not assume that a replacement microphone or receiver is interchangeable across PartyBox models.
JBL’s PartyBox Wireless Mic product page lists two microphones and one dongle in the box, along with a quick-start guide, safety and warranty card, and USB-C cable. JBL specifies a 30 m (100 ft) working range, up to 20 hours of microphone playtime, and up to 12 hours of dongle playtime. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently tested results; actual performance depends on conditions. Confirm compatibility and local product details for your PartyBox before choosing this set.

For an Encore spare microphone, JBL identifies reference FG7261JMJ100114 but says availability depends on stock. Check directly with JBL rather than assuming it is available.
