But 200 KB is a target, not a guaranteed result: whether a file reaches it depends on its contents and the compression options available. Check the downloaded file’s size and readability before you use it.
What a browser tool can—and cannot—do
PDF compression is not one uniform operation. ClientSide says its tool rewrites the PDF and can remove redundant objects, while often preserving image data. That may help with some files, but large embedded images can limit the reduction. Compressify describes a different approach for scanned PDFs: rendering pages through PDF.js and Canvas, with quality and resolution controls and a selectable 200 KB target. Those controls may reduce image quality; the providers do not establish a setting that will reliably meet the target while preserving acceptable quality for every file.

So treat a 200 KB setting as a requested target, not a promise. A PDF that is already optimized, or whose size is mostly due to image data, may remain above the limit unless you accept more visible quality loss.
How to try compressing a PDF to 200 KB
- Choose a compression tool. Check that it offers a 200 KB target or quality and resolution controls before selecting your file.
- Select the PDF from your device. Follow the tool’s on-screen options. If it provides a target-size setting, select 200 KB; otherwise, adjust quality or resolution gradually.
- Download the result and check its actual size. If it exceeds the limit, consider lowering quality or resolution further, but only if the document remains usable.
- Open the downloaded PDF. Check every page at the size it will be viewed or printed, paying attention to small text, diagrams, and image detail.
The cited tool descriptions do not establish a universally safe quality setting or guarantee a particular compression ratio.

Convert JPG images to a PDF in the browser
PDFBox describes a JPG-to-PDF workflow that reads selected files into browser memory, uses client-side JavaScript libraries, and creates a downloadable PDF as a browser Blob. In practical terms, you select the image files, start the conversion, and download the resulting PDF. The available source does not establish that all converters handle multiple-image ordering, page dimensions, orientation, or metadata in the same way, so verify the output rather than assuming those details.
- Open the JPG-to-PDF workflow in the tool you have chosen.
- Select the JPG file or files from your device. If converting several images, check the tool’s order before proceeding.
- Create and download the PDF.
- Open the file and inspect it. Confirm the page count, image order, orientation, placement, and readability.
What “no upload” means for privacy
ClientSide says files are read into RAM and processed in the browser tab using pdf-lib and PDF.js; its page states, “Your documents never leave your device.” PDFBox likewise describes client-side JavaScript processing and local Blob output. These are provider statements, not independent security audits. They describe the stated processing method, but do not independently establish every site’s code, dependencies, analytics, or network behavior on every visit.

If the documents are sensitive, review the specific tool’s current privacy and processing information before selecting files. A browser-based workflow should not be treated as an independently verified guarantee of privacy.

Password-protected PDFs and other limits
ClientSide says its tool cannot read password-protected PDFs without the password. Other tools may handle encrypted files differently, so check the selected provider’s instructions rather than assuming protected PDFs are supported. If the tool requires a password, use it only when you are authorized to access the document.

More generally, the cited tool descriptions do not establish universal browser compatibility or a fixed file-size limit for every device and service. Follow the limits shown by the tool you choose, and keep the original file so you can try another method if the result is unsuitable.
