Spartan and Berserker are the S-tier picks in the September 2026 community tier list for Roblox’s Command an Army. But a tier label alone does not make a unit the right choice: build around the roles your lineup lacks, protect ranged troops with a frontline, and compare units at the upgrade level you can actually field. The list comes from an independent fan wiki, not the game’s developers, so treat it as a dated community snapshot rather than an official ranking.
Command an Army tier list
The independent Command an Army Wiki tier list, retrieved in September 2026, ranks units by their role value, survivability, and ease of acquisition. It does not publish reproducible match statistics or numerical unit comparisons.

| Tier | Units | What the guide’s ranking suggests |
|---|---|---|
| S | Spartan, Berserker | High-ceiling picks described by the guide as rare, self-sufficient carries. |
| A | Spearman, Crossbowman, Shieldman | Dependable role-fillers for anti-cavalry, ranged damage, and frontline defense. |
| B | Archer, Knight line, Scout Rider | Useful with support; the guide says they are weaker alone or when underlevelled. |
| C | Unevolved starter troops | Low-cost opening bodies and fillers, rather than the guide’s recommended end-state core. |
Use this as a starting point, not a universal power scale. The wiki itself notes that a lower-tier unit can be valuable when it fills a missing role, while a top-tier unit contributes nothing if it is not in your active lineup. It also says evolved and ascended units may outperform fresh pulls, so compare units at the upgrade state you can field. The guide warns that balance patches can change rankings; check the live roster after updates.
Choose units by the job your lineup needs
The same guide’s practical advice is to cover frontline, ranged support, and mobility before chasing rarity. A roster with role coverage can be more useful than a collection of high-tier units that leave an important job unfilled.

Frontline defense: Shieldman
Shieldman is the guide’s dependable heavy defender. Use it to absorb pressure and protect troops behind it, especially ranged units that need time and space to deal damage.
Anti-cavalry: Spearman
Spearman’s reach is presented as a counter to mounted charges and fast rushes. If the opposing force relies on cavalry, this is the guide’s specialist answer rather than a reason to stack more general damage dealers.
Rank #2
- COMPONENTS: Scenario Booklet w/ 20 scenarios, 2 National Unit Reference Cards, 4 Block label sheets, 1 Terrain Tile Sheet (15 double-sided terrain tiles), 1 Square and Counter sheet, 344 Wooden blocks, 1 double-sided Terrain Effects Card
Ranged damage: Archer or Crossbowman
Archer is described as a steady basic ranged option; Crossbowman trades toward heavier single shots. Keep either behind a frontline instead of exposing it to pressure. The guide does not provide numerical damage figures to quantify the difference.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSpecial damage: Berserker and Spartan
Berserker is described as a high-damage bruiser. The guide portrays Spartan as an exceptionally rare pull that can anchor a match, but cautions against chasing rarity before your lineup has role coverage. These are qualitative recommendations from the fan guide, not independently verified performance results.

Mobility: keep a cavalry option available
A cavalry unit can provide mobility for flanking or pursuing exposed enemies. The guide advises waiting until enemy archers are exposed before committing cavalry, rather than sending it into a protected formation.
Is there one best unit?
No single unit is best for every lineup or situation. The fan guide singles out Spartan as a potentially match-anchoring rare pick, but says that dependable frontline protection—such as Shieldman—with ranged support may matter more in practice. Your missing role, the opponents you face, and your unit’s upgrade state all affect the choice.

- SHOP THE MARKETS: Later during your turn, you’ll have the opportunity to use Gold you’ve accrued to shop the Command and Elemental Markets! It is here that you’ll be able to recruit new Elementals to your deck and purchase Command cards to increase your chances of offensive and defensive action on your future turns!
Progression, upgrades, and what to verify
The wiki’s progression guides say unlocked units and upgrades are permanent account progress, while troops must be recruited again during each round. They also state that level 20 unlocks evolution and that duplicate units can be combined to raise star level. Because these are claims from an unaffiliated guide, check the current in-game interface and rules before planning around them.
The tier guide says its recommendations draw on matches and the in-game summon screen, but its ranking is not accompanied by reproducible test data. No official developer ranking or patch notes are established by the sources available for this snapshot, so exact odds, unit stats, and universal best-unit claims are not supported here.
