That event listing does not establish that the component is now orderable or in stock. The publication also quoted Rob Smith, CML Micro’s Product Line Director for RF and mmWave Compound Semiconductors, saying customers need to support different power architectures while reducing board space and maintaining reliable RF performance. Can it extend the range of a sub-GHz radio?
That is the stated application, but the available launch coverage does not provide a measured range improvement, link budget, or system-level test result for the CMX90A002. An amplifier can increase transmitted RF power within a design, but usable range depends on the complete radio system: antenna and matching, receiver sensitivity, data rate, interference, propagation conditions, regulatory power limits, and the amplifier’s linearity and operating point. Treat “range extender” as intended use, not a guaranteed result for a particular product.

What is known about voltage and package?
The launch reports describe a 3 × 3 mm footprint. Earlier portfolio-preview coverage reported a 1.9 V to 4.5 V supply range, but that figure is not confirmed by a located CMX90A002 datasheet. It should be treated as preview information, not a final recommended operating range; confirm the current specification with CML Micro before designing around it. Other implementation details needed to assess fit—such as output-power and linearity metrics, gain, supply current, RF matching requirements, thermal limits, and required external components—are not established in the cited launch coverage. Their published figures show that the lineup covers different bands, power levels, supply rails, and packages; none of those specifications should be attributed to the CMX90A002. The catalog also lists efficiency for some models: 49% for the CMX90A003 and CMX90A004, and 52% for the CMX90A006. Do not compare those figures as though they use identical test conditions unless the corresponding datasheets confirm that basis.

- Supported operating band and any frequency-dependent performance limits.
- Output power and linearity metrics under stated test conditions, including whether the application’s modulation requires output backoff.
- Gain, supply voltage and current, efficiency, and the power architecture needed to meet them.
- Input/output matching, external components, layout recommendations, and stability requirements.
- Package land pattern, thermal path, dissipation limits, and practical board-area needs.
- Complete system compliance, including applicable regional transmitter limits and antenna constraints.
For sourcing, confirm the exact CMX90A002 ordering code, lifecycle status, current datasheet revision, evaluation hardware, price, and inventory with CML Micro or an authorized component distributor. The cited announcement and coverage do not verify those details.
