The Fujifilm instax Pal 2 is a pocketable digital camera with an optical viewfinder and a built-in USB Type-C connector for moving photos to a phone. It does not print pictures by itself: to make instant prints, transfer images through the instax app to a compatible instax Link printer or supported hybrid camera, and supply film separately.
What changed on the instax Pal 2?
Fujifilm announced the second-generation instax Pal on September 14, 2026. Its headline additions are an optical viewfinder and direct USB Type-C phone transfers alongside Bluetooth connectivity. Fujifilm also lists a 1.0-inch LCD on top for reviewing images. The viewfinder is for composing a shot; the LCD is for checking captured pictures.

Fujifilm Singapore describes a 10-megapixel camera with a 1/3.06-inch sensor, compared with five megapixels on the preceding Pal. Those are manufacturer-stated specifications in that regional release, not independent image-quality measurements. The Pal 2 remains a digital camera rather than an instant-printing model.

How do you transfer photos to a phone?
The Pal 2 requires Fujifilm’s dedicated instax Pal app. Fujifilm describes Bluetooth pairing with the app, which can act as a remote shutter and store, transfer, edit, and share images. After pairing, connect the camera to a smartphone’s USB Type-C port for a wired transfer; Bluetooth wireless transfers are also available.

Fujifilm says USB Type-C transfers take about 0.7 seconds per image and are faster than Bluetooth. That is the manufacturer’s stated figure, not a guaranteed result: actual speed depends on conditions and devices. Fujifilm Singapore’s launch release lists USB-C iPhones running iOS 16 or later and Android devices running Android 12 or later as compatible. These are regional release requirements; check current app and device support before buying.
Can the instax Pal 2 print photos?
No. The Pal 2 captures and transfers digital images but has no built-in printer or film compartment. To print, send images through the app to a compatible instax Link smartphone printer or a supported hybrid instant camera, such as the instax mini Evo or instax mini LiPlay. Fujifilm lists mini, SQUARE, and WIDE film formats for the print ecosystem; film is sold separately.

The practical distinction is the workflow: a Pal 2 photo first lives as a digital image, and printing requires another device. A Link printer is the dedicated printing option; a supported hybrid camera combines camera and printing functions. Confirm that a particular printer or camera is supported before purchase.

- Image formats: choose mini, SQUARE, WIDE, or frameless before applying effects.
- Storage: Fujifilm says the camera holds up to 100 photos before transfer to the app and accepts microSD cards. A card is sold separately; consult the current manual for supported card formats and capacities.
Price, availability, and what is in the box
FUJIFILM North America Corporation announced suggested retail prices of $169.95 USD and $219.99 CAD in 2026. The US release expected availability in late September 2026 and listed Black and White color options. These are launch details, not confirmation of current inventory or street prices.

The Pal 2 fits someone who wants a small digital camera, prefers composing through an optical viewfinder, and is comfortable using a phone app to manage and share pictures. The wired transfer option is useful when a cable is preferable to wireless transfer. It is less suitable for anyone expecting a standalone instant camera: the cost and convenience calculation should include a separate compatible printer or hybrid camera and film. A recent Tom’s Guide review also flags price, battery life, and low-light performance as considerations, but those are review judgments rather than specifications established here.
