These figures come from different sources and describe different measures. The estimates are historical; none is a current user total. TechCrunch also cautioned that installs are not a sound proxy for registered users.

Why the figures do not add up to one user count
Active users measure activity over a period
A weekly active-user figure counts people active during a week; a monthly active-user figure counts people active during a month. The periods differ, so the two figures should not be treated as equivalent or compared without their labels.
Downloads and installs measure app acquisition
A download or install indicates that an app was acquired, not that a unique person registered, returned, or used it during a particular week or month. A person may install without becoming active, and install totals should not be used to calculate Clubhouse’s present-day audience.

What the historical numbers say about Clubhouse’s rise
The install estimates document a rapid surge in early 2021: Sensor Tower estimated 9.6 million global installs during February and about 16.4 million cumulative global installs by the end of March. These figures show app acquisition in that period, not the size of the current audience.
Access also changed during 2021. Clubhouse ended its waitlist and invite system and opened to everyone on July 21, 2021. The company’s announcement, as quoted by TechCrunch, said, “but we’ve always wanted Clubhouse to be open.” TechCrunch reported the company’s claim of 10 million Android downloads in the app’s first two months; that is a download figure, not an active-user count. Clubhouse’s transparency-report page links to its 2022 report, which describes the move from invitation-only access to general release.

Are there really 40+ reliable Clubhouse user stats?
The dated figures available here support several distinct audience measures, but not 40 current, independently verified Clubhouse statistics. Reaching 40 by repeating figures, relabeling installs as users, or mixing unrelated social-media metrics would make the answer less reliable. The useful takeaway is to keep each figure attached to its metric, date, geography where stated, and source.
