Cloudflare’s website plans primarily provide DNS, content delivery, and security services; they are not a like-for-like replacement for conventional shared, WordPress, VPS, or dedicated hosting. Many site owners can use Cloudflare in front of a separate hosting provider rather than choosing one instead of the other.
What are you comparing: hosting or network services?
InMotion Hosting sells conventional hosting: server resources and plans for running websites, including shared, WordPress, VPS, dedicated, and reseller options. Cloudflare’s website plans focus on services around a website, including DNS, CDN, DDoS protection, SSL, and web application firewall (WAF) features. The providers therefore solve different primary problems.

Cloudflare can complement a separate host. Its support documentation describes a specific integration in which customers add a WordPress.com site to Cloudflare, review DNS records, and configure them for the integration. Cloudflare characterizes the arrangement as providing its performance and security services with WordPress.com’s hosting platform. See Cloudflare’s WordPress.com integration guidance.
What do their plans cost?
The figures below are the amounts displayed on the providers’ official pages in October 2026. They are not equivalent bundles: Cloudflare’s website-plan prices do not include a conventional hosting account, and InMotion’s advertised starting rate depends on the plan and billing term. Check the current checkout details before committing.

| Cloudflare Automatic Platform Optimization for WordPress | $5/month on Free; included with Pro, Business, and Enterprise | A separately listed WordPress optimization product; confirm current packaging. |
| InMotion Power shared hosting | Starting at $5.99/month; renews at $17.99/month | Displayed plan- and term-dependent rate on InMotion’s general hosting page, not a universal hosting price. |
Sources: Cloudflare website plans and InMotion web hosting plans. Cloudflare prices shown are website-plan prices, not a quote for every Cloudflare product. InMotion’s page lists other offers and renewal prices; the Power rate is only one example. Its free-domain offer is limited by term and extension, covers the first year only, and renews at the then-current regular rate. Money-back periods and restrictions vary by plan.
Which service fits your hosting needs?
Choose InMotion if you need a hosting account
InMotion lists shared, essential and managed WordPress, VPS, dedicated, and reseller hosting. Its page describes shared hosting as suited to new or small sites and VPS hosting as a scalable option for growing businesses wanting more control; those are the provider’s descriptions, not independent performance findings. Compare the specific plan’s site count, storage, email, backup, migration, support, and renewal terms rather than relying on the category name alone. Its WordPress plans list features including NVMe storage, preinstallation, automatic offsite backups, malware protection, migration support, email, Cloudflare integration, and differing site counts and support channels. Features vary by plan.
Choose Cloudflare for network, DNS, or security features
Cloudflare’s website plans list DNS, CDN, unmetered DDoS protection, Universal SSL, and WAF. Automatic Platform Optimization is listed as a WordPress optimization option with CDN and intelligent caching. These services address delivery, DNS, and security needs; they do not make the website plans equivalent to InMotion’s server-hosting plans.
Use both when the roles match
If you already have a host and want Cloudflare’s network or security capabilities, the relevant question may be how to configure the two services together, not which provider to replace. DNS changes and integration steps depend on the host and site setup. Cloudflare’s WordPress.com documentation is an example for that specific platform, not a universal configuration guide.
How should you compare value and terms?
- Calculate recurring cost: compare the full billing commitment and renewal rate, not only an introductory monthly equivalent. For Cloudflare, account for any separately priced products you need.
- Match requirements to the actual plan: check site limits, storage, email, backup, migration, support channels, and scaling options on the InMotion plan under consideration.
- Check eligibility and restrictions: InMotion says its 90-day money-back guarantee applies to WordPress plans of six months or longer. Its general hosting page notes 7-, 30-, or 90-day money-back periods, with restrictions depending on plan. Confirm the applicable terms for the exact plan and term.
- Verify domain terms: a free-domain credit, where offered, is limited by term and extension; InMotion states the domain is free only for the first year and renews at the regular price then in effect.
- Confirm current details: features, prices, renewal rates, and terms can change. Read the provider’s current plan page and checkout summary before purchase.

The official plan pages do not provide a comparable, controlled Cloudflare-versus-InMotion benchmark. They cannot establish a measured speed or uptime winner. Cloudflare lists CDN and optimization features, while InMotion lists hosting plans; feature descriptions alone do not show how a particular site will perform. Results depend on the site, configuration, location, traffic, and the specific hosting plan. Choose based on the role and terms you need, and evaluate performance for your own setup rather than treating vendor feature claims as head-to-head test results.
