Cloudflare and Squarespace solve different problems. Choose Squarespace if you want to build and host a typical portfolio, business site, blog, or online store without managing web infrastructure. Choose Cloudflare if you need domain, DNS, content-delivery, or security services for a site you already operate. Cloudflare Pages can host JAMstack sites, but Cloudflare says it does not host most websites.
What are you trying to do?
| Your goal | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Build and publish a site without arranging separate hosting | Squarespace | Its subscription combines site-building tools with managed content hosting and includes business functions such as commerce, domains, marketing, and analytics. Squarespace describes its website platform. |
| Manage DNS, a domain, CDN, or security services for an existing site | Cloudflare | These are infrastructure and domain services, rather than a general-purpose no-code site builder. Cloudflare explains its DNS role. |
| Host a JAMstack site | Cloudflare Pages may fit | Pages is a hosting option for JAMstack sites; Cloudflare says it does not host most websites. Cloudflare’s Domains documentation states: “Cloudflare does not offer web hosting for most websites, though you can deploy and host JAMstack sites with Cloudflare Pages.” |
These are not interchangeable website-builder plans. Squarespace is the more direct choice when you need a complete hosted website platform. Cloudflare is the more relevant choice when you need to control or add network services around a site.

Cloudflare offers DNS, CDN and security products, as well as domain registration at cost and free Universal SSL for Cloudflare domains. Its Network & CDN plans are not substitutes for a hosted website subscription. If you choose Cloudflare for a conventional site, you will generally still need a separate web host. Cloudflare’s tier descriptions and prices come from its Network & CDN pricing page; Squarespace’s starting price and trial are listed in its getting-started guide. These are live-page prices checked on October 7, 2026, not permanent guarantees. To compare your real costs, price the Squarespace website plan you need against the Cloudflare features you need plus a separate host, if applicable. The cited pages do not establish a single equivalent cost for both services.

Can you use Cloudflare with Squarespace?
Yes. A domain can be managed or registered separately from the company hosting the site’s content. That means a site can remain hosted on Squarespace while its domain is managed elsewhere; changing domain management does not by itself mean you need to rebuild the site. Squarespace explains the distinction between a domain and hosting in its web hosting vs. domain hosting guide.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Adding Cloudflare is a configuration decision, not an automatic speed upgrade. Squarespace says most of its sites do not need Cloudflare’s security and traffic services; it describes its sites as already having SSL and being designed for high traffic. Those are Squarespace’s statements, not independent performance-test results. Consider Cloudflare when you have a specific infrastructure or security need.

What to check before changing DNS
A full Cloudflare DNS setup involves adding the domain, reviewing or importing its DNS records, and changing nameservers. A missing or incorrect record can make a domain unreachable, so check the records before updating nameservers. Cloudflare outlines the process in its full setup guide.
- Identify the domain and hosting arrangement. Confirm which company hosts the site content and which company currently manages the domain or DNS.
- Review and import the DNS records. Compare the records for the site and any other services that use the domain before making the change.
- Change nameservers only after checking the records. Cloudflare’s full setup requires pointing the domain to its nameservers; incorrect records can disrupt access.
- If connecting Squarespace through Cloudflare, check proxy status. Squarespace warns that proxying CNAME or A records can interfere with a Squarespace domain connection. Follow its Cloudflare connection guide and verify the records if the connection fails.
Because this involves DNS records and nameserver configuration, it is best treated as an advanced setup rather than a default change for every Squarespace site.

Which should you choose?
- Choose Squarespace if you want an integrated visual builder and managed hosting for a conventional site, with business tools available through its plans.
- Choose Cloudflare if your site already has a host and your need is domain management, DNS, CDN, or security services—or if Cloudflare Pages suits your JAMstack project.
- Use both selectively if you want Squarespace to host the site while Cloudflare manages DNS or provides a specific additional service. Check the DNS and proxy configuration rather than assuming the combination will improve performance.
