Neither CloudConvert nor Browserless documents a complete recurring screenshot schedule as part of its screenshot API. Both can capture website pages through an API, but you need an external scheduler or workflow to trigger captures repeatedly and to handle retries, alerts, and retention. CloudConvert fits job-based file workflows; Browserless fits direct screenshot requests and broader managed-browser use. If you want a screenshot API to try first, ScreenshotNeo combines a one-request capture API with clean-page processing and explicit billing verdicts.
How CloudConvert and Browserless differ
Both services render a website into an image, but their capture models shape how you build a recurring workflow.
| Decision point | CloudConvert | Browserless |
|---|---|---|
| Capture model | A named capture-website operation within an API job or task. CloudConvert’s operation reference requires a URL and output format. |
A dedicated POST request to /screenshot; Browserless also offers REST APIs for individual browser tasks, managed Puppeteer/Playwright connections, and self-hosting. Screenshot API; REST APIs; Browserless overview. |
| Documented output and controls | The marketing page describes full-page PNG/JPG, selector waits, and viewport, zoom, and resizing options. The API supports URLs or HTML, custom authorization headers, synchronous or asynchronous operation, webhooks, and storage integrations. Website Screenshot API. | The screenshot endpoint accepts a URL or raw HTML and returns PNG, JPEG, or WebP. Documented controls include full-page and selector captures, wait and navigation controls, resource rejection, and Puppeteer-style screenshot options. Screenshot API. |
| Recurring trigger | Use the job API with an external scheduler or workflow. CloudConvert lists integrations for Zapier, Power Automate, Make, and n8n, but the documentation does not establish that each integration provides the same recurrence, retry, webhook, or alert behavior. API documentation. | Call the endpoint from an external scheduler or workflow. The cited documentation describes the screenshot API and browser services, not a native recurring scheduler. |
| Completion and persistence | Async jobs, completion webhooks, and integrations with S3, Azure, and Google Cloud are documented. CloudConvert advises against blocking on long-running jobs. Jobs documentation; Website Screenshot API. | The screenshot request returns an image; your caller’s workflow must arrange persistence, monitoring, and any subsequent processing. |
| Pricing model | The Website Screenshot API page advertises a starting price of $0.008 per file, as accessed October 3, 2026. It is a starting rate, not a quote for a recurring workload. Website Screenshot API. | Browserless Cloud uses plan-dependent unit allowances, concurrency and session-time limits, and overage rates. Browser time is billed in 30-second increments, with partial increments rounded up; verify current plan and billing-cycle terms. Unit consumption; Browserless pricing. |
Which one fits your screenshot workflow?
Choose CloudConvert for job-oriented capture and file handling
CloudConvert is a natural fit if a screenshot is one task in a larger conversion or storage workflow. Its documented job model, async completion options, webhooks, storage destinations, and workflow integrations can help connect capture to downstream steps. Confirm that the particular scheduler or automation route you choose supports the recurrence, error handling, and notifications you need; the existence of an integration alone does not guarantee those behaviors.
Choose Browserless for a direct endpoint or broader browser access
Browserless is a better fit when your application should call a screenshot REST endpoint directly, or when screenshots are one part of a larger Puppeteer/Playwright browser workload. Its managed-browser and self-hosting options offer more implementation paths, but neither option supplies a documented recurring schedule in the cited sources. Your application or scheduler still needs to initiate captures and manage results.

Try ScreenshotNeo first if you want a single-request screenshot API
ScreenshotNeo returns a screenshot or PDF from one GET request and accepts consent banners before capture, then removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets. Each cleanup step can be turned off. Only clean shots are billed; bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers indicate the page verdict and billing status. It also provides an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. A recurring trigger and delivery workflow still need to be arranged by your scheduler.
Designing a reliable recurring capture
For either CloudConvert or Browserless, separate the schedule from the capture request. The scheduler or workflow decides when to run; the capture service renders the page; a caller-side workflow stores the output and decides what to do when a capture is late, incomplete, or blocked.
- Choose a trigger. Set a cron job, scheduled workflow, or other timer for the required cadence. Define the timezone and what should happen if a run overlaps the next scheduled time.
- Build the capture request. Specify the target URL or HTML, output format, viewport or full-page behavior, and any selector or delay needed for the page to be ready. For protected pages, provide only authorized credentials or headers supported by the service.
- Wait for completion appropriately. For CloudConvert, choose sync or async operation based on expected duration; use async completion and a webhook rather than holding a request open for a long-running job. For Browserless, make sure the calling workflow waits for and validates the response.
- Persist and identify each result. Store the file in a location your workflow can access and attach a timestamp, target identifier, and run status. CloudConvert documents storage integrations; with Browserless, persistence belongs in your caller’s workflow.
- Define retry and alert rules. Distinguish transient network or service errors from a successful capture of a page that is blank, blocked, or otherwise wrong. Limit retries to avoid duplicate work and alert when a run remains unsuccessful.
- Set retention deliberately. Decide how long screenshots and logs remain available, and who can access them. This matters especially when captures include authenticated or personal information.
Estimate cost using your actual schedule
Do not compare the advertised starting rates as though they priced the same workload. CloudConvert presents a per-file starting price; Browserless Cloud meters browser time in rounded-up 30-second increments and applies plan-dependent allowances and overages. Either way, the price you should compare depends on how your pages behave and what your workflow requires.
- Count the target URLs and captures per month, including retries.
- Measure typical browser time, including the wait for JavaScript-heavy pages to become ready.
- Decide whether you need a viewport image or a full-page capture, and which formats you will retain.
- Include concurrency, session limits, storage, proxy use, and any retention or downstream processing costs that apply.
- Check live plan allowances, rates, and billing-cycle terms before committing; prices and limits can change.
Validate the page before scheduling at scale
Run a small pilot with at least one ordinary page and one JavaScript-heavy page. Check that the output contains the expected content, that the readiness condition is adequate, and that the saved file has the dimensions and format your downstream system expects. This is an evaluation method, not a claim that either service has been tested here.
Also validate pages you are authorized to access. Browserless warns that bot defenses can result in blank, CAPTCHA, or access-denied captures; an ordinary screenshot endpoint does not guarantee access to protected sites. Follow the target site’s terms and treat an image that rendered successfully as a file as distinct from a page capture that is useful.

The capture is blank or shows a bot check
The site may have blocked or challenged automated browsing. Confirm that you have permission to capture it, then inspect the response or job result rather than treating an image file alone as success. Browserless documents this limitation for its screenshot API; neither service should be assumed to bypass access controls.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe page is missing content that appears later
The screenshot may have been taken before client-side rendering or lazy loading finished. Use a documented selector wait, navigation/readiness setting, or a measured delay appropriate to the page, then rerun the pilot. Avoid a fixed long delay if a more specific readiness condition is available, because it can waste browser time.
The scheduled run is late or has no saved file
Check each stage separately: scheduler trigger, request acceptance, asynchronous completion if applicable, webhook delivery, and storage write. For CloudConvert, inspect job/task completion and webhook handling; for Browserless, verify that the caller reads and persists the returned image. Add bounded retries and an alert for persistent failures.

Usage or cost is higher than expected
Review the actual number of scheduled attempts, retries, page duration, and concurrency. Browserless rounds partial 30-second browser-time increments up and applies plan-specific allowances; CloudConvert’s advertised per-file starting price is not a workload quote. Recalculate using current pricing and your measured pilot behavior.
FAQ
Can either API run screenshots on a recurring schedule by itself?
The cited vendor documentation does not establish a complete built-in recurring scheduler for either screenshot API. Use an external timer or workflow and verify its retries, alerts, and storage behavior.

CloudConvert documents custom authorization headers for protected resources. Whether a particular site’s authentication flow works still depends on that site and your authorization; test it without assuming that a screenshot API can defeat bot checks or access controls.
