Clockwork.io announced a $31 million funding round on October 5, 2026. Premji Invest, Wing Venture Capital and Seligman Ventures co-led it, and existing investors NEA and e& Capital took part. The company says total funding is now $73 million. It sells software that helps AI clusters keep working when a GPU, node or network link fails. It does not sell hardware.

What Clockwork.io does
Clockwork describes its product as a software layer between AI infrastructure hardware and the workloads that run on it. It pairs observability of the cluster network with fault tolerance. The descriptions below come from the company’s own materials, not independent testing.
Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down

FleetLens is described as spotting slow or failing jobs and pinpointing the GPU, node, link, switch or NIC responsible.
#1 Best Overall
LinkPass: routing around failed links
LinkPass reroutes traffic around failed network links so that a single network fault does not stall the job.
TorchPass: moving work off failing GPUs
TorchPass moves work away from failing GPUs and captures state so a job can recover.

New in the October announcement
- Multi-node platform snapshots capture the state of a distributed job across nodes. Clockwork says this needs no changes to training code.
- Fast asynchronous application checkpoints are meant to reduce the progress lost when a failure occurs.
- Reinforcement learning: the release positions TorchPass and LinkPass for systems where training and inference replicas exchange updated model weights.
Why failures are so costly at scale
Large training jobs run tightly synchronized across many GPUs. When one GPU or link misbehaves, healthy GPUs can sit idle waiting for it, and the job often has to restart from its last checkpoint, repeating work. Clockwork’s release cites a Meta example as summarized by the company: about one unexpected interruption every three hours over a 54-day Llama 3 training run on 16,384 GPUs. That figure is Clockwork’s summary of Meta’s work, not something verified here against Meta’s original paper.
SemiAnalysis founder Dylan Patel is quoted in the release saying, “Cluster fault tolerance used to be a training problem. It is now an inference problem too.” Clockwork CEO Suresh Vasudevan says, “Failures are inevitable at AI scale. Losing hours of useful work to them should not be.”

Customers and deployments, as reported by Clockwork
| Customer | What Clockwork says |
|---|---|
| LinkPass is deployed across its AI infrastructure fleet and prevents tens of thousands of GPU-hours of downtime per month. CTO Infrastructure SVP Raghu Hiremagalur is quoted: “At AI infrastructure scale, a single network issue should never sideline healthy GPUs or interrupt running workloads.” | |
| Together AI | It is bringing TorchPass to market as a service on its GPU clusters. Product Lead Pavneet Ahluwalia says customers grade the company on goodput, the share of GPU-hours that actually move the model forward. |
| WhiteFiber | An existing customer expanding its use of the software to audit and validate clusters before production. |
All of these results appear in a company-issued release. The LinkedIn downtime figure is a customer result relayed by Clockwork, and no independent measurement was published alongside it.
Performance claims to treat cautiously
Clockwork’s About page says its FleetIQ product improves utilization and job completion times by 1.1–1.5x and cuts disruptive failures by more than 90%. The page gives no date or test method in the text reviewed, so these are unverified company claims.

How it compares with other approaches
The announcement does not give enough detail to rank Clockwork against alternatives. A fair comparison would look at:
- Recovery mechanism: network rerouting, live GPU migration, or checkpoint-and-restart.
- Whether recovery requires application-code changes.
- Effect on training goodput.
- Supported GPU and network environments.
- Depth of observability.
- Independent benchmark evidence.
Clockwork’s own benchmark summaries, including the SemiAnalysis material it references, should be checked against the underlying study before anyone draws head-to-head conclusions.

The Bottom Line
The round is real and named, but the evidence for the product is mostly the company’s own. The signal worth watching is whether LinkedIn’s and Together AI’s results get confirmed independently as the software moves into more clusters and cloud partners.
